Glenn Rieder/Shamrock Metals LLC is Hiring a General Manager/Project Executive Near San Diego, CA

JOB SUMMARY:

The General Manager of the San Diego office is responsible for providing oversight on the successful conclusion of assigned projects within the West Coast region. This includes providing leadership and direction to a team of Project Managers, strategically managing risk, monitoring finances, and making sure each phase of the projects starts and ends on schedule. Additionally, this position will provide leadership for the San Diego office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides strategic leadership and technical, operational, financial, and managerial leadership for successful implementation of projects.
  • Oversees project implementation related to assigned within the west coast region, including monitoring and reporting, financials, transactions, execution of project plans and performance.
  • Ensures project plans, and the management of all projects meet the needs of the necessary parties and delivers expected project financials.
  • Oversees project financials in managing all costs including internal and external resources to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Ensures project scope is aligned with overall strategic goals and objectives of the organization and adjusts as necessary.
  • Supervises the management of change orders, coordinating the execution of contracts with customers and subcontractors.
  • Manages the identification of risk, mitigating both upstream and downstream with customer and subcontractor for the project.
  • Provides direct supervision of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and/or Field Superintendents.
  • Identifies areas that need development and work with HR and management to address. Provide daily/weekly/monthly training to help the growth of staff.
  • Selects and manages the training of project teams, assigning clear roles and responsibilities, providing effective supervision, and managing performance.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the San Diego Office, including indirect reports.
  • At times, this position may be required to directly manage individual project(s) in addition to the overall managerial duties.
  • Participate in jobsite meetings with customers and/or subcontractors as required.
  • Periodic travel to jobsite(s), Glenn Rieder offices and shops, and vendor and customer visits as needed to ensure the success of the project.

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Leadership Skills: team motivation, conflict resolution, problem solving, and team communication.
  • Participate in jobsite meetings with customers and subcontractors as required.
  • Periodic travel to jobsite(s), Glenn Rieder offices and shops, and vendor and customer visits as needed to ensure the success of the project.
  • Qualified candidates will have an associate or bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ project management experience in the construction field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in the millwork industry is preferred.
  • Ability to supervise a team.
  • Ability to lead a team in a collaborative manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in problem solving/analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, organize, and implement alternate solutions to challenges.
  • Strong sense of urgency
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to always maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Internet savvy with competence in Microsoft Office applications. Strong MS Excel proficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel to meet the needs of the project.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. While this position is largely a sedentary role, the employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms. 

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to five pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to see and differentiate color and to focus.
