Purpose of Position The Material Support Technician manages inbound/outbound material and the material crib to support production by providing material as required per the production schedule and as needed for other departments. They ensure accurate inventory levels and cycle counting by maintaining accurate system transactions for every material movement. II. Key Responsibilities Perform Daily Cycle Counts; Identify Variances and provide results to Supply Chain/Accounting. Standardize and maintain on-floor inventory behind machines. Clearly identify each tote/shelf with the assembly/activity that it contains. Standardize and maintain crib by right sizing bins, clearly labeling bins and shelves, arrange part locations on each shelf numerically, and standardize storage methods. Organize and maintain sheet metal/control cabinet storage location. Support Production Supervisor by managing transactions within SAP. Ensure crib is secured when it is not being supervised. Support the Manufacturing, Assembly Operations, and Service Assemblies by pulling and issuing material to the correct operation and/or Shop Order in advance of build start. This includes issuing and staging sheet metal and control cabinets, as well as, printing and binding of manuals and pulling options for each network per customer requirements. Process and Track all non-conforming material and other process related activities (e.g. counterweights or missing parts). Operate forklift/scissor lift as required to support business activities – maintain current operating permits. Act as backup for Material Support Specialist II for all shipping and receiving responsibilities. I. Relationships Reports to: Operations Manager Internal: - Daily interaction with Supply Chain, Production, Gear Lab, Accounting and Service personnel. - Periodic interaction with Sales/Marketing and Engineering personnel. External: - Periodic interaction with Gleason Logistics personnel and customers. Measures of Performance Maintain daily cycle counts. Sustain inventory accuracy of 97% or higher. Avoidance of product damage due to internal processing/movement. Timeliness and accuracy of material stocking and material pulling activities. Cleanliness of the facility. Background and Skill High school diploma with preferred having some college coursework. experience in material movement including shipping and receiving functions. Current certification for and at least 2 years’ experience operating forklifts, cranes and associated rigging equipment. skill demonstration within the MS Office (Excel, Word). Demonstrated alertness and planning for proper/safe material handling at all times.
