THE MISSION

The Child Care Food Program Assistant Manager is expected to:

  • Assist with managing the Child Care Food Program according to the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services Federal Regulations, the South Carolina Department of Social Services Child Care Licensing Regulations, and the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control Regulations.
  • Assist with keeping records required by government agencies regarding sanitation and food subsidies.
  • Assist with reviewing and submitting food and non-food orders for purchases made by the kitchens.
  • Assist with negotiating contracts and bids with school districts and food vendors with the assistance of Purchasing Manager, as required.
  • Assist with training or set up training for staff and governing bodies on agency’s policies and requirements.

A SNAPSHOT OF EXCITING THINGS YOU WILL DO:

  • Assist the Child Care Food Program Manager in ensuring overall compliance with all federal, State, and local entities governing the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
  • Compile all data necessary to prepare the CCFP reimbursement claims.
  • Assist in menu planning, ensure menus are set up in spreadsheet, sent to printer and centers receive menus each month.
  • Maintain all records for the CCFP Department.
  • Assist CCFP Manager with filing, correspondence, Head Start Standards etc.
  • Input data in the computer for electronic food, paper and chemicals orders.
  • Assist manager with monitoring CCFP Program requirements.
  • Help develop spreadsheets.
  • Assist and monitor with the department’s supply inventory and related documentation.
  • Any other job-related duties deemed necessary by the CCFP Program Manager or other appropriate Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Associate’s Degree in the field of dietetics or a related field of study preferred or combination of education and experience commensurate with job description.
  • ServSafe certification preferred or obtained within 6 months.
  • Certification from the American Dietetic Association preferred.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a quality food service position with record keeping, preparation, automated buying system, operation, and some managerial experience.
  • Knowledge of computer and software, such as but not limited to Microsoft 360 and DSS Database System.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and exhibit cooperative, enthusiastic, dedicated, flexible, dependable and friendly attitude.
  • Computer savvy, especially Microsoft products.
  • Must be able to work well on a team.
  • Ability to relate to disadvantaged children and their parents.
  • Valid South Carolina Driver’s License is required.
  • Travel required throughout service area to monitor centers, and statewide and national training conferences
  • The ability to meet the following physical requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Schedule:

  • 8:00AM-5:00PM Monday through Friday, typically – some weekends and after hours required
