Glasgow School District 1-A is Hiring a Speech/Language Pathologist Near Glasgow, MT

JOB DESCRIPTION: SPEECH/LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed by the Board of Speech Pathologists and Audiologists of the State of Montana

PRIMARY FUNCTION: To provide speech, hearing and language therapy for students with communicative disabilities in order to reduce or eliminate impairments which adversely affect interpersonal relationships or educational performance.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Superintendent

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conducts a comprehensive assessment of the student’s speech and language and

summarizes the data:

  1. Determines eligibility for Special Education Services in cooperation with the Child Study Team, using data from comprehensive assessment.

  2. Writes an Individual Educational Program and updates that program annually, in cooperation with other Child Study Team members.

  1. Joins with the Child Study Team in consulting with parents and outside agencies regarding speech, hearing and language evaluation, individualized educational program, and student progress.

  2. Provides individual students and/or groups of students with appropriate speech, hearing and/or language therapy:

    1. Provide speech services in delivery models that could range from a pullout model to a total in-class service model as determined by student’s needs. Effort will be made to incorporate skill acquisition training into the classroom setting for full inclusion of students with communicative disabilities.

    2. Provides indirect instructional programs including suggestions for materials, methods, and techniques for use in the classroom.

    3. Assists in modification of classroom assignments and school activities always building on student strengths.

  3. Communicates with classroom teachers, staff and parents, concerning student progress and evaluation.

  4. Informs the Child Study Team of the progress and needs of students.

  5. Maintains adequate and current records on all students assigned to the speech pathologist, including caseload, Special Education records and Child Count.

  6. Provides in-service programs for the regular classroom teacher and other school personnel about speech/language programs.

  7. Conducts kindergarten screening and Child Find activities for speech and language skills.

  8. Maintains a professional working relationship with all staff members through in-service sessions, as well as a knowledge of current literature.

  9. Performs such other duties as directed by Director of Special Education, Superintendent and Building Principals.
