Job description

Position Summary:

The Civil Litigation Associate Attorney is responsible for providing effective and thorough case evaluation, predominately for vehicle damage claims involving negligence and/or breach of contract, on behalf of rental car companies, and insurance subrogation cases. The Associate Attorney represents the firm in litigation.

Position Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and appear for high volume case files to determine liability and recoverability.
  • Interface with insurance adjusters, opposing counsel, local counsel, and pro bono defendants on assigned cases in a manner that promotes the firm’s values and demonstrates respect for others.
  • Partners with peers (attorney’s and managers) to acquire the necessary data/research support from the following:
  • Intake Specialists
  • Call Recovery Specialists
  • Research Specialists
  • Provides feedback to the File Intake Manager for support provided by the above support personnel.
  • Provides direction to assigned support personnel (Legal Assistant) to ensure thorough, timely case preparation, workflow, and performance reviews.
  • Ensures cases are properly prepared for trial by:
  • Effectively managing case and trial calendar to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Conducting legally sound research for liability and recovery potential
  • Producing correspondence, lawsuits, discovery, affidavits, and orders
  • Preparing corporate and expert witnesses for trial
  • Verifying data
  • Collaborates with other parties involved including but not limited to: insurance adjusters, opposing counsel, local counsel client representatives, witnesses, court personnel, and pro bono defendants.

Education/Experience:

  • Law Degree from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law (in good standing) in Maine, (Florida is a ) other jurisdictions preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to waive in immediately upon hire and in at least one additional state.

  • Intermediate to exceptional skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Exceptional Analytical skills
  • Ability to independently organize and disposition a case with attention to detail
  • Ability to support multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to support others and work collaboratively across the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with tact and respect while interfacing with multiple levels both inside and outside the firm
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high ethical standards

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $80,000.00 - $120,000
