Gitzell Fairtrade is Hiring a Warehouse Operations Manager Near Saint Charles, MO

This position will be 30 - 40 hours per week with a flexible schedule, Monday through Friday. Compensation begins at $25 per hour. This is a 100% in-person [non-virtual] position, based at company headquarters in St. Charles, MO. Ideal start date: April 2, 2024.

Many of the weavers we work with are also farmers, and the sale of woven goods generates supplemental income that contributes substantially to the economic viability of smallholder farming, helping women farmers remain in control of their farmland.

Position Summary:

The Operations Manager oversees daily warehouse operations, including inventory management and order fulfillment, at Gitzell FairTrade. Duties include receiving shipments of products, storing and managing inventory and dispatching goods to customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and inventory management:

Receive incoming shipments and verify their contents against purchase orders or invoices. Unload and unpack items, inspect them for damages, and properly store them in designated locations. Update inventory records and maintain accurate stock levels using inventory management systems.

  • Order fulfillment:

Pick and pack customer orders accurately and efficiently based on provided packing lists or shipping instructions. Prepare orders for shipment by securely packaging items and affixing proper labels or shipping documentation. Collaborate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and ensure timely delivery of orders.

  • Warehouse organization and maintenance:

Keep the warehouse clean and organized and maintain the physical condition of the warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts. Perform regular inventory counts and assist with cycle counts or annual physical inventories as needed.

  • Documentation and record-keeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, and adjustments. Prepare necessary documentation for outbound shipments, including bills of lading and shipping labels. Complete required paperwork and reports related to warehouse operations as assigned.

  • Quality control and compliance:

Conduct regular quality checks on incoming and outgoing products to ensure they meet the required standards. Document any damages or discrepancies promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working in a warehouse or similar environment is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately follow instructions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Proficient in using inventory management systems and basic computer applications.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and equipment operation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Interest in or experience with mission-based and/or social impact organizations preferred.

Physical Requirements:

The role of Operations Manager requires physical stamina and the ability to perform various physical tasks. It is essential that candidates are capable of meeting the following physical requirements:

  • Lifting and carrying: The ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds is necessary for this position. May be required to move heavy boxes, equipment, or inventory throughout the warehouse.
  • Standing and walking: This role involves extended periods of standing and walking within the warehouse facility. Candidates must have the physical endurance to remain on their feet for extended periods while performing their duties.
  • Bending, stooping, and reaching: The ability to bend, stoop, and reach for items on lower and higher shelves is crucial. May need to access inventory stored at different heights within the warehouse.
  • Physical agility: This role may involve navigating narrow aisles, climbing ladders, and maneuvering in confined spaces. Physical agility and coordination are necessary to perform these tasks safely and efficiently.

Candidates should be aware that the physical demands of the job may vary depending on the specific warehouse environment and the nature of the products being handled. Adequate training and safety measures will be provided.
