Job Title: Marketing and Outreach Manager

Location: Greater Atlanta, GA area

Reports to: Executive Director

FLSA Status: Exempt, Salaried

Organization Summary

Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a transformational physical activity-based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills and social emotional learning through a youth development curriculum that includes dynamic, interactive lessons and running. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event. The program's goal is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. Position Summary

The Girls on the Run Georgia Marketing and Outreach Manager will play a pivotal role in amplifying our mission and impact throughout the community. This role supports the organization’s development efforts and strengthens community partnerships through strategic marketing, communications, social media, and community outreach tactics. Reporting to the Executive Director, this is a full-time, hybrid position (2 days in office, 3 days remote) based in the Greater Atlanta area.

Primary responsibilities include:

Marketing and Communications:

  • Spearhead the development and execution of a comprehensive communication strategy and editorial calendar to achieve multiple goals: 
  • Recruit sites, volunteer coaches and participants for fall and spring programs.
  • Build awareness for 5K celebrations and other annual events.
  • Support donor acquisition, cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Lead and execute owned marketing platforms such as
  • Coordinating email messaging to program stakeholders, donors, and coaches via email marketing platform.
  • Lead content creation and submission of monthly e-newsletters.
  • Develop the organization’s social media strategy with organic and paid social content and social listening to stay on top of current social media events and trends.
  • Manage organization websites, updating and auditing content.
  • Implement corporate/partner marketing benefits in collaboration with development and 5K event staff.
  • Write, review, and edit compelling and strategic content for external marketing purposes, including print and digital materials, promotional collateral, annual impact report, and media relations.
  • Leverage current and emerging trends, such as promotional items, video, media, and grassroots events, to attract new stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update lists of volunteers, donors, prospects, and families receiving communications from Girls on the Run.
  • Seek thought leadership opportunities to position the organization in front of influential audiences through speaking engagements, quotes, opinion pieces, and media appearances. 
  • Measure and analyze marketing campaigns and promotions results, refining the approach as needed to achieve targets and goals.
  • Maintain a well-organized database of visuals and photography for efficient staff access and utilization.

Community Outreach

  • Identify and attend key community outreach events to raise awareness, recruit coaches and volunteers, and support community partnerships.
  • Lead and manage the outreach ambassador program, overseeing volunteers who represent Girls on the Run at various community outreach events.

Required Qualifications and Attributes

  • Passion for girls’ empowerment, youth development and the Girls on the Run mission.
  • A positive, proactive, and can-do mindset.
  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing and communications, and community outreach.
  • Experience in leading and managing email, social media, and/or paid advertising campaigns.
  • Strong writing, grammar, proofreading and editorial skills to craft compelling and engaging content.
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn and social media scheduling/analytics tools (e.g., Facebook Creator Studio, Hootsuite, Sprout Social).
  • Ability to develop graphic design content using Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in public speaking.
  • Energy and enthusiasm to share GOTR mission with community members.
  • Curiosity and desire to stay updated on trends in communications and marketing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Nonprofit experience a plus!

The salary range for this position is $50,000-$60,000 annually. In addition, Girls on the Run offers an attractive benefits package including professional development funds; retirement plan with employer match; medical, dental and vision insurance; performance-based bonus plan; and generous PTO.
