Girls in Gear is Hiring a Girls in Gear Program Coordinator - DMV Near Washington, DC

At Girls in Gear, we teach life skills through bike skills for girls ages 5 . We find bikes to be an extraordinary tool for change in ourselves and our communities as a conduit for lessons on kindness, compassion, and inner strength. Our no-questions-asked scholarship policy provides financial support, bikes, and helmets to ensure everyone has access to our program. Our vision is for a world where every girl grows into her most brilliant, tenacious, and confident self, on and off her bike. Our DMV Program Coordinator must be fully committed to our mission and growing our program.

This position is salaried and home-based ($22/hour). We ask for a 5-day work week with flexible scheduling. Because our program runs seasonally (Spring and Fall), hours will be concentrated in the lead up to and during the seasons. In season, 10-20 hour weeks are to be expected. Our seasons run from April - to June, and September-November, and the busiest times include the months prior to the season start (February - March, and July - August).

As the Program Coordinator at Girls in Gear, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our programs. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of program supplies ordering, assisting staff, and overseeing special projects. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be crucial in maintaining the high standards of our organization.

The Program Coordinator reports directly to the DMV Program Director and Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Management

  • Make on-site visits to ensure that the program is being delivered in a manner consistent with Girls in Gear’s mission and goals
  • Enforce all current site policies and procedures and generate innovation and improvement as needed
  • Attend monthly staff meetings, community events, trainings for supervision and support
  • Assist with coaches’ trainings
  • Creates, manages, and oversees program registration
  • Completes all coach data entry and conducts background checks as needed
  • Follows up with outstanding unpaid registrations throughout the season

Coach Management

  • Ensure all program sites are staffed with qualified volunteer coaches
  • Enforce all current coaching policies and procedures and generate continuous improvement
  • Communicate regularly with coaches in regarding trainings, meetings and specific regional- related information

Special Projects

  • Lead and/or support special projects related to program development and enhancement
  • Collaborate with other team members to implement new initiatives
  • Track and report on the progress of special projects to management

Staff & Administrative Support

  • Provide support to program staff in organizing and executing program activities
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and maintaining program records
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures

Program Supplies

  • Manage inventory of program supplies and materials (including bikes and helmets as needed)
  • Coordinate with vendors to order supplies in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all program sites have the necessary supplies for activities
  • Help manage bike and helmet inventory and coordinate distribution before the start of each season

Required Qualifications

  • Outstanding communication skills in multiple environments and with a range of audiences (internal and external)
  • Meticulous organization
  • Experience managing budgets and supervising a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coaching experience with Girls in Gear or similar programs
  • Connections to the local community
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is an advantage
