The Volunteer Experience Manager's primary accountability is to achieve girl and adult membership goals by implementing appropriate retention strategies. They are the primary support to the volunteers in their assigned communities and regions. This includes analyzing data related to their assigned areas, setting strategy to achieve goals, attending volunteer meetings, developing and implementing a robust mentoring program and assisting in conflict resolution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Achieve girl and adult membership goals by implementing appropriate retention strategies.
  • Analyze membership trends and other available information to in order to plan, develop, promote and implement a comprehensive strategy to develop and retain adult members/volunteers and girl members in assigned area for troop, community, region and council wide programming.
  • Accountable for new troop leader success which may include visits to support new troops, provide resources and capture their needs, and provide expertise in all GSLE programming such as the Volunteer Toolkit.
  • Support the development and implementation of a robust adult volunteer mentoring program throughout assigned geographic areas.
  • Ensure the delivery of role-specific learning opportunities and resources that are delivered in multiple ways that are continuous, fun, and adaptable to different volunteer styles and are effective at preparing volunteers for their roles.
  • Develop and execute a written plan for assigned areas to meet council goals and objectives related to retention, training, recognition and support of adult volunteers /members.
  • Develop and execute a written plan for assigned areas for achieving Council goals and objectives related to program participation, girl retention, and the product sale. Monitor participation, identify trends, and adjust strategies where needed that may impact future programs.
  • Ensure a reliable administrative volunteer service delivery structure is in place, filled with appropriately vetted and trained volunteers who effectively deliver Girl Scout services to girls and volunteers in their assigned geography.
  • Ensure volunteer administrative teams develop and execute volunteer role planning and development, onboarding of Troop Leaders, annual plan of work, retention strategies, and provide backfill support when necessary in assigned geography.
  • Support volunteers in planning and implementing comprehensive council wide volunteer experience strategies.
  • Support and oversee all components of an efficient and effective volunteer onboarding process within the communities and regions including administrative vetting, training, field support and tracking.
  • Support and attend key volunteer meetings in the community and region throughout the year.
  • Ensure administrative volunteers adhere to the nomination, vetting, appointment, and onboarding of new volunteers as well as termination of volunteers when necessary, in assigned geography.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate volunteer recognitions and appreciation strategies for assigned area to create a culture of appreciation.
  • Support the mentoring of volunteers at Girl Scout Quest (GSQ) sites and engage at the community level.
  • Coordinate with Mission Delivery Team members to increase Girl Scout visibility in the community and foster interest in volunteer opportunities. Support the cross-functional goals of the assigned member experience team.
  • Provide support to Mission Delivery teams for problem solving and conflict resolution involving girls and adults in the community and region. Support the recruitment and placement of girls and volunteers across the Mission Delivery Team.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with appropriate community volunteers, region volunteers, and council-wide volunteers to support recruitment efforts within targeted areas to positively impact membership growth.
  • Assist with the development of budgets and monitoring of cost centers as needed.
  • Partner with staff, volunteers and girls across the council to find, leverage, and share stories about how Girl Scouting changes girl’s lives – and how girls change the world.
  • Support the development and implementation of council plans to evaluate outcomes and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor operations and assigned geographies and ensure that volunteers comply with Council’s risk management policies and procedures. Address and escalate non-compliance when needed. Assist with volunteer removals as necessary.
  • Support assigned geographic areas and special assignment teams by ensuring high quality marketing and communication of activities and programs through Council resources such as but not limited to the Golden Link, council website, newsletters, resources site, etc. and external community resources as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word), SharePoint, Personify, team/knowledge sharing tools, etc.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Physical Demands:
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include heavy visual acuity (close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus) required to perform such activities as preparing and analyzing data and figures, using a computer and extensive reading and proofing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, sit, reach with hands or arms and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
