Girl Scouts of Western Washington is Hiring a Community Engagement Team Member - AmeriCorps Near Seattle, WA

Position Summary:

Exciting opportunity for AmeriCorps Members to join the Girl Scouts of Western Washington Community Development Team as a Community Engagement Team Member. AmeriCorps members will partner with community organizations aligned with Girl Scouts of Western Washington to recruit and lead Girl Scout troops within those communities. You will plan bi-weekly meetings for each troop and plan for any additional troop activities or field trips. AmeriCorps members will also recruit and train adult volunteers to foster long-term interest and buy-in to the Girl Scout program within the communities that they serve. 

Service will take place between August 14, 2023–June 30, 2024. Expected days are Tuesday–Saturday but can vary depending on member and community partner needs. The hours will typically be 12 PM–6:30 PM with a 30-minute break included and Saturday hours depending on event needs. AmeriCorps members will serve in pairs within partner community organizations throughout Western Washington.

The program’s objective is to inspire and encourage the youth of Western Washington while gaining important professional development opportunities, training, and experiences. Through our partnership with AmeriCorps, you’ll play a vital role in bringing Girl Scout programming to youth in communities our organization has historically underserved. You’ll expand our capacity by recruiting and leading community Girl Scout troops as well as recruiting and training adult volunteers. The AmeriCorps Member’s year of service includes a comprehensive benefits package with living allowance, medical, time off, and other amenities.

Essential Functions:

1. With council guidance and support, plan and lead community troop meetings. 

2. Provide youth and Volunteer outreach in assigned community to increase Girl Scout awareness and participation for members and volunteers.

3. Provide training for long term volunteers transitioning into troop responsibility. 

4. Facilitate Girl Scout programs and events throughout the service area.

5. Attending all Girl Scouts of Western Washington staff meetings, trainings, and more. 

6. Participate in Girl Scout and AmeriCorps training. 

Qualifications:

Education Required: 

· High School Diploma

Desired Experience: 

· Childcare and/or teaching experience.

· Experience recruiting and or leading volunteers.

· Public speaking experience. 

· Experience working within diverse communities and diverse age groups.
