The Marketing Manager, Digital Demand is responsible for building the organization’s market presence and driving interest in Girl Scout membership, volunteering, and/or giving through digital marketing campaigns. This position will create and manage digital campaigns that diversify recruitment channels and drive awareness, interest, and membership leads.This position will lead the overall growth and strategic direction of our organization’s social media and assist with digital advertising initiatives. This position appropriately represents the Girl Scout brand at all times and works closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Marketing Manager, Member Engagement, and all Girl Scouts of Western Ohio departments to tell the Girl Scout story.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Develop, execute, and maintain a digital demand generation strategy and plan to grow the organization’s membership leads as part of overall integrated marketing campaigns
    • Develop a deep understanding of our target audiences, their communities, and the Girl Scout membership journey
    • Ensure the organization has the right mix of assets, channels, and tactics to:
      • build awareness and support among target audiences
      • convert awareness to interest and desire among target audiences
    • Work with the Director of Marketing and media buying partner to integrate and implement paid digital advertising campaigns
    • Monitor results, identify optimization opportunities, implement testing, and adjust programs to maximize value
 
  • Design, build, and maintain the organization’s social media and online presence with a focus on building external relevance for potential members, community partners, media outlets, and donors
    • Connect with volunteers and families to share Girl Scout stories (such as: Cookie Program, Camp, Gold Award, individual Girl Scout stories, volunteer stories)
    • Engage in social media conversations with members, partners, communities, funders, and media
    • Engage in social (and real) conversations with identified local influencers to raise relevancy and awareness of Girl Scouts at a regional or community level
    • Focus on outreach to minority & other underserved or targeted communities
    • Establish appropriate metrics, evaluate, report results regularly, and refine strategies as needed
    • Evaluate emerging digital technologies and platforms. Provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate
 
  • Create digital content – video, graphics, copy
    • Combine analytical thinking with storytelling to identify and engage the right leads
    • Develop & incorporate video
    • Post live from events as needed
 
  • Serve as a brand champion for Girl Scouts, ensuring:
    • Compliance with the organization’s national and local brand standards
    • Integration of messaging with all other communication channels and across the organization
    • All communications and campaigns are well designed, effective, and appropriate
 
  • Participate and collaborate fully in MarComm (GSWO’s marketing team) team efforts, including cross-training and providing back-up support to the Marketing Manager - Member Engagement, to ensure comprehensive marketing and communications coverage.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORKThis is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.TRAVELTravel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, or communications
  • At least two years’ experience in website and social media strategic planning and management, using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.; or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Previous hands-on experience in building and implementing digital demand marketing campaigns.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills with an impeccable eye for detail.
  • Strong writing skills formatted for digital platforms and ability to engage with and serve as advocate for diverse audiences in social media channels.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and skill in Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with video editing software and techniques.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar marketing automation platform a plus.
  • Analytical skills and experience tracking and reporting on campaign performance and other key metrics.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presenting skills, and the ability to work effectively with people at all levels and departments within the organization – remotely and in person.
  • Political campaign, community organizing, and/or nonprofit experience a plus.
