Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey is Hiring a Mindfulness & Wellness Specialist Near Kinnelon, NJ

Description

Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey is looking for energetic, fun, organized, and caring staff to provide memorable experiences to girls in a safe and engaging Summer Camp environment! Lake Rickabear Day Camp sits on 332 acres of land including a beautiful 40-acre, spring-fed lake, perfect for swimming, pedal boating, paddle boarding, and row boating. The Mindfulness and Wellness Specialist will schedule, develop, and implement a curriculum to educate and inspire campers to participate in a variety of mindful age-appropriate activities to encourage individual growth. 

Mindfulness/Wellness Specialist Responsibilities: 

  • Teach and facilitate the following activities, but not limited to: yoga, meditation, Zumba 
  • Maintain strict safety procedures set forth by GSNNJ 
  • Attend pre-camp training and conduct training to staff on mindfulness 
  • Maintain communication with Unit Leaders, Counselors, and Junior Counselors regarding camper behavior and supervision 
  • Instruct and support a group of up to 20 girls, providing mindfulness/wellness activities 
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise special programs for Special Interest Day 
  • Keep a supply of appropriate rainy day activity resources available 
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of Wellness Pavilion and area supplies 
  • Conduct safety orientation of equipment and safety procedures 
  • Provide resources for unit staff to develop unit projects, lessons, and programs 
  • Maintain files of ideas and directions of mindfulness/wellness programs 
  • Write and submit a seasonal report and evaluation of the season's mindfulness/wellness program activities 
  • Promote high camper and staff morale 
  • Document and diligently report any health and welfare concerns to the Camp Health Supervisor 
  • Must be able to stay and sleep over for at least one out of the three overnights 
  • Must be able to stay at camp until the end of campfire for the overnights even when not staying for overnight Perform other duties as assigned 

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age 
  • Certification in yoga.
  • Ability to schedule and develop program for yoga and mindfulness 
  • Ability to use sound judgment regarding safety procedures 
  • Knowledge of Girl Scouting, leadership skills, and proven instructional experience.
  • CPR and first aid required. 
  • Desire and ability to supervise, lead, and positively manage campers and work with other staff in a cooperative, team-oriented camp atmosphere 
  • Ability to teach skills to campers of all ages and staff in a safe, inclusive, and enthusiastic way 
  • Ability to use sound judgement surrounding safety procedures 
  • Must be attentive and timely 
  • Regularly speak, read, write, interpret, and respond to words in the English language 
  • Must be able to communicate well with other staff and community partners 
  • Hold or be willing to obtain current certification of standard First Aid and CPR (training to be provided). 

Physical Requirements 

  • Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching and ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds. 
  • Daily exposure to seasonal weather conditions. 
  • Must be able to work in a rustic camp environment with limited access to electricity, cell phone service and internet.
