Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri is Hiring a Health Services Aide Near Pevely, MO

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Health Services Aide will assist in the implementation of a total health care program for campers and staff. Resident Camp employment is seasonal, with dates of employment approximately May-August. Employment will be at Camp Cedarledge in Pevely, Missouri.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assists with reviewing camper and staff health records. Notifies unit staff and food service staff of health-related camper and staff needs, and restrictions. Follows Health Services Supervisors established system to provide for secure storage and access to all health records and center records
  • Follows all established health and safety standards in place. Maintains compliance with Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), American Camp Association (ACA) and Council health and safety standards and procedures
  • Under the direction of the Health Services Supervisor, cares for the physical well-being of all campers and staff in compliance with physician protocols and camp policies. Confers with camp physician when advisable or directed by physician protocols
  • Assists with the secure storage and proper dispensation of all prescription and over-the-counter medications in accordance with camp policies, physician prescriptions and protocols
  • As directed, conducts weekly check of first aid kits for units, program areas, administrative areas and vehicles. Prepares or restocks first aid kits as necessary
  • Assists with transportation of campers requiring the attention of physician as needed
  • Maintains all necessary records, reports, inventories and evaluations. Submits all required reports, administrative records and paperwork according to established deadlines.
  • Assists with health screening for all staff and incoming campers on opening day of each session in accordance with established procedures and checkpoints
  • Assists with cleaning, inventory and closing of the health center at the end of the season


REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

If your position requires that you drive an average of one (1) day per week or more, you must possess a valid state drivers license and a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

  • Is required to talk and hear, stand and walk, and is frequently very active and often requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching.
  • Is required to reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds


EXPOSURES

Work is performed in a normal indoor environment with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt and/or dust AND work is occasionally performed in an outdoor environment with exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt and/or dust.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Meets GSUSA membership requirements and attained the minimum age of 18
  • Abides by national and local Girl Scout policies, standards and procedures and American Camp Association standards and procedures
  • Holds a valid drivers license
  • Holds current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification or willing to obtain
  • Has strong organizational skills and the ability to delegate and coordinate the work of others
  • Has strong communication, team building and conflict management skills
  • Has demonstrated good judgment, maturity, flexibility and ability to maintain positive attitude
