Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri is Hiring a DEI Inclusion and Accommodation Specialist list Near St. Louis, MO

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The DEI Inclusion and Accommodation Specialist supports disability inclusion at GSEM, serving as a primary contact for accommodations and a subject matter expert for youth-centered accessibility. Responsibilities include reviewing accommodation requests, providing recommendations, creating disability inclusion training materials, and coordinating support services.

This part-time position will work an average of 15-20 hours per week. Most work hours will be during daytime business hours (8:30 AM - 5:00 PM) with in-office days on Tuesday and/or Thursday and potential to work remotely the remainder of the week. The anticipated starting hourly wage is $22.00.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Coordinate support services and accommodations for members with disabilities; review disability accommodation requests, and work in collaboration with various departments to respond to requests
  • Build volunteer and staff understanding and adoption of disability inclusion through the creation and delivery of training programs
  • Serve as disability inclusion and accessibility Subject Matter Expert, developing and maintaining a working knowledge of best practices
  • Identify and cultivate partnerships to support GSEM’s disability inclusion work
  • Represent GSEM for external and internal disability inclusion activities and events
  • Coordinate accommodation services (i.e., ASL interpreters, aides, etc.) for programs and events
  • Maintain files, contracts, and other materials for members with disabilities
  • Provide recommendations regarding camp and program accessibility-focused infrastructure needs
  • Provide support to Mint Condition, GSEM’s health, wellness, and disability inclusion employee resource group
  • Serve as liaison with other internal departments to ensure an accessible and inclusive environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in special education, psychology, social work, or related field or equivalent professional and/or lived experience
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the field of developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of community resources for children with special needs
  • Ability to effectively engage and communicate with community members and groups, managers, and families both individually and in group settings and virtually
  • Strong critical thinking/problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to balance the need to function within policies/procedures and at the same time, meet the needs of members
  • Demonstrated proficiency Microsoft Word, Microsoft Forms, and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic organization
