Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan is Hiring a Membership Team Lead/Troop and Volunteer Support - Saginaw Near Saginaw, MI
POSITION SUMMARY The Membership Team Lead/Troop and Volunteer Support is accountable for increasing girl and adult membership in the assigned region and work with the team to meet membership goals. Responsible for the development and implementation of recruitment, retention, and recognition strategies for adult and girl members in all segments of the population based on research and analysis of community demographics and needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Increase girl and adult membership by identifying and training an appropriate number of volunteers to facilitate the Girl Scout program.
Achieve growth and hit membership benchmarks by successfully managing and cultivating the regional team.
Train, coach, encourage, and mentor regional membership team to implement membership strategies and tactics leading to the achievement of membership goals.
Communicate and collaborate with assigned membership team to complete required recruitment activities and retention tactics.
Interpret and promote Girl Scouting in the community to enhance the role and image of Girl Scouting, foster interest in troop sponsorship, increase visibility, and attract new girl and adult members.
Build and promote strong, long-lasting volunteer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs.• Function as a positive and cooperative member of the Membership Team within the Heart of Michigan Team, sharing resources and expertise.
Work with school administration, teachers, and community partners to increase girl participation within Girl Scouts, developing new ways of serving girls, especially underserved girls.
Support and promote girl/troop attendance at overnight and day camps.
Solicit community donations as appropriate. Support the council fundraising goals.
Participate in the development and implementation of council action plans, budgets, and support the ongoing management systems of the council.
Participate in activities within the community to further the understanding and advancement of Girl Scouting, including public speaking at meetings with community organizations and volunteers.
Collaborate with Engagement/Recruitment Specialists and Troop/Volunteer Support Specialists on recruitment strategy and techniques to achieve adult membership goals.
Support the council product programs, Sister to Sister Campaign and other assigned fund development efforts.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field
Experience with membership recruitment and retention highly desired
Knowledge of Girl Scout program highly desired
Prior non-profit experience preferred
Experience with creating programs, budgets, and timelines
Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills

WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position.
Will work a variable schedule each week depending upon need.
Position requires candidates to work many evenings and weekends.
TRAVEL Must have own transportation, valid driver’s license with a good record. The ability to travel council wide. Occasional travel within the council to various meeting locations with staff and volunteers. Travel is primarily during the business day and evening hours. Overnight travel may be expected.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and a point of sale system.
