Position Summary:

The Fire Suppression Specialist will install and maintain the fire suppressions systems including pipes, valves, fittings, fixtures, and drainage systems in the production of modular units. Works in conjunction with other skilled trades in manufacturing the modular units in the production facility.

Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborates with employees concerning work orders, prints, and sketches to understand the structure that needs to be built or repaired.
• Estimates equipment, tool, and material requirements for each job.
• Installs and repairs fire suppression systems in modular units.
• Installs conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables.
• Ensures piping complies with codes.
• Performs inspections of fire suppression systems.
• Operates all necessary tools to complete a job.
• Ensures tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained for optimum performance and safety.
• Ensures the accuracy of work by checking completed projects.
• Measures, marks, and arranges materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
• Always adheres to safety protocols and follows policies and procedures.

Other:

• Regular and predictable attendance within the Ginosko-assigned facilities.
• Other duties as assigned by Management.

Education/Certification/Licensing/Experience Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma/GED preferred; completion of a formal apprenticeship program preferred in Installation of Automatic Fire Protection Systems, Fire Pump Installation and Testing, and Systems Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance.
• Experience: At least three years' experience in installation of fire suppression systems, fire pump installation and testing, system inspections, testing and maintenance, previous experience working with diverse populations preferred.
• Certificates & Licenses: Preferably holding a Fire Alarm Contractor License and or a Fire Suppression Contractor License from the State of Michigan. Backflow Certification for testing and service.
• Other Requirements: Strong stakeholder service skills. Exceptional dedication to dependability and punctuality. Strong work ethic. Ability to engage a team toward a common mission. Additional abilities required:

• Expert knowledge of all sprinkler/fire suppression systems, backflow assemblies, fire pumps, fire hydrants and underground.
• A clear understanding of NFPA Industry Standards, 13, 25, 20, 24.
• Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems and of water tanks.
• Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices
• Familiarity with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper.
• Ability to solve mathematical problems and conversion of measurements quickly and accurately.
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
• Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
• Works well as part of a team.
