Gillette Children's is Hiring a Manager-Facility Planning & Emergency Management Near Saint Paul, MN

This position provides leadership and strategic planning for all Gillette Children’s properties. Major responsibilities include safety, security, emergency management, real estate planning, construction, design and project management, and space allocation.

This position exists to:

  • Ensure clean, welcoming, accessible facilities that comply with all regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the efficient coordination of facilities services, safety, security, and emergency management to meet clinical, operational and financial objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and update a 5-year facility master plan to ensure the best utilization of space and resources.
  • Align EOC responsibilities with the strategic plan goals and to provide an excellent patient experience. 
  • Lead the organization in the management of Security and Emergency Preparedness and Management. Oversight of CMMS requirements for Healthcare Emergency Preparedness

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this opportunity is $100,672/annually to $151,028/annually, with a median salary of $125,840/annually. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees. Primary Job Responsibilities 

  • Provides leadership for facility planning, emergency management, security and environmental sustainability teams and organizational goals.
    • Provides oversight and leadership for policy and procedure development, quality standards, and process improvement. 
    • Manages annual departmental operations budgets and building operations budgets.
    • Actively updates and implements policies, procedures and/or performance improvement tasks to improve patient safety and ensure best practices.
    • Collaborates with the Supply Chain Department to prepare Request for Proposal (RFP) documents to solicit proposals from design consultants, construction contractors, consultants and vendors. Analyzes proposals, makes recommendations and supervises the work of those retained.
    • Oversees compliance for the Environment of Care, Life Safety chapter and supports the VP of Infrastructure for oversight of Medical Equipment.
    • Coordinates parking, and parking access with Regions Hospital. Manages valet service and performance. Develop, implement, and update an ongoing parking strategy.
    • Manages independent vendor services and performance for coffee shop.
  • Lead strategic space programming and utilization for the organization.
    • Support and may lead the Facility Advisory Council. Improving space utilization and identifying opportunities to improve spaces.
    • Collaborate with leadership in the creation of a 5-year capital plan for facilities and infrastructure. 
    • Drive organizational strategy for facility planning, construction and space utilization.
    • Collaborates with department leadership to address space and renovation efforts.
    • Provides space utilization, programming, estimates, and department adjacency expertise to support master facility planning.
    • Addresses patient and staff concerns related to space and projects.
    • Oversees real estate negotiations, leases, and acquisitions.
  • Oversees the leadership of the project management team. References the strategic plan to develop priorities of projects, renovation budget forecasting and planning. Responsible for updating and maintaining the plan drawing and document management system.
    • Develops a consistent application of processes related to space allocations and project delivery.
    • Sets KPI’s for project management team. KPIs to support organizational strategic initiatives.
    • Inspects floor plans, remodeling, and construction work for compliance with City/State regulations, safety policies, TJC, MDH, and the Fire Department
  • Implements facility services for the organization in a manner consistent with the Master Facility Plan and financial resources.
  • Lead the Emergency Management program. Act as, or identify a team member to be, the Emergency Manager and Safety Officer for the organization
  • Lead Security Services and Physical security strategies and daily operations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture, facilities, construction management, engineering, or related degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in facility planning and management
  • Minimum 5 years of healthcare (inpatient and/or clinic) experience
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and management abilities
  • Knowledge of Life Safety Code 101, The Facility Guidelines Institute- Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities, The Joint Commission and local and state regulatory requirements
  • Must possess knowledge of facilities design and construction, basic utility systems, mechanical design and construction, real estate/leasing/tenant improvements, emergency management, security management and physical security.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong skills in time management, productivity and multi-tasking abilitiesKnowledge of safety, infection control guidelines, and regulatory agency requirements
  • Strong communication skills, technical skills and the ability to work effectively with various users, consultants as well as internal and external customers 

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in business or related degree
