Gill Family Medicine is looking for a qualified phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. You will be responsible for collecting blood samples through venipuncture and finger sticks, and preparing and analyzing specimens for laboratory testing. You will work closely with our providers, clinical staff, and laboratory personnel to ensure that all patients receive the best healthcare practices. Our ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills, excels at problem solving, and is dependable.
Laboratory Technician Responsibilities
· Experienced in medical laboratory safety, cleanliness, and control policies and regulations.
· Proficient at collecting blood specimens by performing venipuncture and finger sticks.
· Collect and prepare specimens to accurately diagnose diseases and disorders.
· Maintain laboratory supplies and inventory.
· Collect, label, and analyze samples for urinalysis, hematology tests, chemistry tests, etc.
· Perform specimen tests, record observations, and accurately document and interpret finds.
· Ensure proper safety guidelines at all times within the laboratory.
· Responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining laboratory medical equipment.
· Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with company policy and HIPAA regulations.
· Maintain detailed documentation for proficiency testing and to meet CLIA requirements and regulations.
· Capacity to handle multiple priorities in a high volume setting.
Qualifications and Requirements for Laboratory Technician
· Associates degree from an accredited school
· 3 years of clinical work experience
· Must be compassionate and personable
· Ability to communicate effectively with patients and other medical staff
· Strong leadership skills, self-confidence, and ability to remain calm in stressful situations
· Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
· Exceptional active listening skills
