School Nurse

• 2024 - 2025 school year
• Onsite positions only
• $41.00- $43.00/hour benefits
• Full time | Monday-Friday | 37.5 Hours |
• Great school district with supportive staff
• Must have a Nursing License
• 1:1 Position

Responsibilities of a School Nurse:

• Knowledge of the principles and practices underlying professional nursing etiquette in a school environment
• Acts as a resource in promoting healthy practices and provides support during times of illness or concern
• Maintains and evaluates cumulative health data to fit the individual needs of the student, in a health room setting
• Must be able to assist medically fragile students that often require specialized care with tracheostomy tubes (trachs), ventilation tubes (vents), gastrostomy tubes (G-tubes), toileting, feeding tubes, wheelchair assistance
• Meet with other professionals to discuss Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each assigned student as needed
• Provides direct health education, and health counseling to assist students and families
• Organization and ability to properly document for each student’s health file
• Administer first aid, medication and specialized treatment for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured children according to District policy and procedures
• Discuss students’ health needs with parents, other teachers, counselors when needed
• Providing plans of care for students whom are medically fragile or require daily medications
