SUMMARY
The Front Desk employee coordinates, organizes and maintains the front office check in area with a high level of efficiency and professionalism. Facilitates completion of required paperwork, collects and enters the appropriate patient responsibility, and reviews the patient demographic information entered into the practice EMR system for accuracy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
· Greet all patients, vendors and staff in a warm, inviting and professional manner
· Collect all applicable co-payments, deductibles and balances
· Obtain and enters all pertinent paperwork to register patients in a timely manner
· Knowledge of office staff and basic operations to direct walk in persons to the correct department
· Maintain updated schedules in the EMR system
· Accurately prepare charts at a minimum of one business day in advance for the next day
· Maintain a pleasant and clean patient waiting area
· Complete daily closing procedures and balances all payments at the end of the day
· Prepares daily deposits for scheduled weekly courier pick-up
· Basic knowledge of other related job areas in need of coverage
· Maintains all supplies needed for job performance
· Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or Equivalent. A minimum of 2 years of related work experience and/or training preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
General ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages relating to patient responsibility for outpatient visits.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, spreadsheet, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
This position requires a basic knowledge of practice EMR appointment scheduling software, payment posting software, patient payment collection and overnight batching processing software, call center phone queue applications, and patient medical record electronic storage software.
