GI Specialists of Georgia is a leading gastroenterology practice in Georgia. We are seeking a Medical Assistant for one of our very busy locations. This position is responsible for the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Verify patient information by interviewing patient, documenting medications and the purpose of today’s visit into the practice EMR
· Prepare patients for examination by gathering pertinent clinical information, perform blood pressure check, obtain current weight and temperature and completes a patient history summary
· Assist with exams. Educates patients regarding conditions, procedures, preps and medications per physician orders
· Counsel patients by transmitting physician orders and answering questions relating to ordered procedures
· Coordinate patient continuity of care by scheduling labs, radiology exams and arranging for procedure scheduling with the applicable personnel. Verify times with patients, prepare the charts, conduct pre-admissions and obtain the appropriate consent forms
· ERX prescriptions and/or refills when needed as approved by physicians. Obtain prior authorization if required by the patient’s pharmacy plan
· Answer incoming calls to and returns voicemail messages from patients. Relay test results to patients per physician’s recommendations
· Adhere to Material Safety Data Sheet standards, annual OSHA update review and testing, consistent recording and monitoring of medication refrigerator logs and Vaccine logs
· Maintain patient confidentiality by securing patient information per practice guidelines within the practice EMR
· Keeps supplies at acceptable levels by inventory of existing stock, place replenishment orders, verify receipt of incoming orders, maintain cleanliness and restocking supplies in the exam rooms
· Maintain equipment functionality by following appropriate operating instructions, maintain appropriate equipment supply levels, report equipment failures to the applicable department for troubleshoot and repair
· Perform injections and comply with OSHA and HIPAA regulations
· Ability to travel to satellite offices when needed

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
