Responsibilities

Ghafari Associates is looking for an Interior Designer to join the team. This role will support national projects and report to a manager out of the Birmingham, AL office. Candidates can choose to be HYBRID, or 100% IN OFFICE, or REMOTE with availability to support project sites in the region that includes Birmingham, AL.

General Summary:

With close supervision from the Manager of Interiors and Senior Designers, assists in executing a variety of design and technical tasks on projects of moderate size and complexity.

Essential Job Functions:

• Assist with preparing background drawings, as-built drawings and furniture inventory for projects.
• Assist with preparing design program documents and of schematic design presentation documents.
• Handle design tasks of limited scope (Moderate sized space planning, furniture selection and specification, finish selection and specification, etc.) and with basic technical tasks (code search, schedules, etc.) independently.
• Assist in the preparation of specifications (providing manufacturer information, limited editing tasks).
• Assists with construction documents (inputting plans on CAD, picking-up mark-ups, making finish presentation boards, etc.).
• Works with vendors to set-up demonstrations of the new materials and equipment
• Organizes and updates the Materials Library as needed
• Develop understanding of building & accessibility codes for contributing to design process.
• Travel to out-of-state project sites as project needs dictate (needs vary but average 3 -4 days per month).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture with a focus on Interior Design.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Interior Design role
• Healthcare experience preferred, but not required.

Skills/Competencies:

• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, 3ds Max and/or other rendering software, the Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office products
• Knowledge of industry vendors
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Excellent organizational skills 
• Basic understanding of building & accessibility codes preferred.
• Ability to multi-task
• Must thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to express (and show) a passion for building and maintaining client relationships and providing exceptional customer service.
