The Field Operations team is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and small business services. Within GFiber's Field Operations, the Plant Maintenance team supports wired and wireless customer installation and network construction leading to the growing and maintaining of GFiber networks.

Role Description

The Field Operations Manager I will oversee all field support for local operations, including planning, coaching, scheduling, and coordination of all team activities. This includes managing Construction Technicians, OSP Plant Maintenance Technicians I II, and Residential Installers. Using your background and deep understanding of how to diagnose and resolve service issues, you will coach and assist staff and vendor partners to develop expertise in installation, maintenance, and repair of network infrastructure while adhering to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

In this role, you'll:

  • Lead a team of technicians and oversee all field operations including: planning, scheduling and coordination of all team activities (e.g. construction, installation, repair and maintenance).
  • Actively promote best practices, identifying opportunities for skill development, and creating personalized plans to help team members and individuals reach their full potential.
  • Resolve and troubleshoot service issues from the central office, remote terminal or hut location to the customer's premise equipment.
  • Proficiency with the installation and test of Ethernet jacks, making cross connects in telecom spaces (MDF, IDF, HDF) working with twisted pair copper cabling and/or fiber optic cables, installing radio mounts, tuning microwave point-to-point radios and performing installation/construction duties, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Navigate complex customer interactions with exceptional client service, professionalism, and thoroughness.

At a minimum we'd like you to have:

  • 3 years in a people manager position in the telecommunication industry.
  • 5 years experience in FTTH/GPON/XGS network construction and/or large scale fiber network deployments.
  • 5 years of experience managing relationships with contractors and suppliers.
  • Experience with physical layer components of networking infrastructure, including twisted pair copper cabling (Category 5 or greater), 66 blocks, 110 blocks, patch panels, fiber optic cabling, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs utilizing ergonomic safety practices.
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle check that meets company standards.

It's preferred if you have:

  • Ability to operate Google Workspace and Salesforce applications.
  • Experience interfacing with local pole owners and utility companies, coordinating with city/local permitting offices, and subject matter expertise in OSP FTTH deployments with experience in service drop installations.
  • 5 years of experience in building and operating fiber networks for business-to-business (B2B) and enterprise environments.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting Ethernet network issues related to routers, switches and hubs.
  • Experience with rack and stack work, assembling server stanchions, telemetry closet work (MPOE, DMARC, etc.), and patch panels.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $81,000 - $89,000 bonus equity benefits. Your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
