GFB is Hiring a Mobile Ag Educational Programs Assistant Near MACON, GA

JOB LOCATION: SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WOULD WORK REMOTELY AND ABLE TO TRAVEL THE STATE OF GA

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Program Coordination

  • Create and submit quarterly schedule for Director approval.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of GFA’s educational programs, including but not limited to, traveling to and coordinating/communicating with schools/organizations, county Farm Bureaus, and GFA staff for the requirements of the program.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with schools/organizations.
  • Responsible for the general maintenance and supply inventory needed for educational programs, including the mobile classroom.

Program Instruction

  • Follow a rotational schedule for in person teaching, as approved by the Executive Director
  • Responsible for set up and breakdown of the physical requirements of the program.
  • Responsible for the requirements of student, volunteer, and teacher instruction to ensure smooth program.

Program Resource Development

  • Work closely with partners to enhance program experience.
  • Develop new educational resources and program material.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations to Executive Director.

Program Outreach

  • Act as the mobile classroom spokesperson and coordinate visits with partners and local media, consult with Executive Director prior for guidance.
  • Develop Press Releases and Quarterly Newsletter for director approval.
  • Promote opportunities for future engagement by attending partner events.
  • Responsible for marketing resources and communications for GFA programs.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

  • Dress appropriately for mobile classroom presentations (nice jeans/khakis, polos, GFA/GFB attire.)
  • Prepare quarterly presentation of GFA Educational Program Activities for internal and external use.
  • Identify local fundraising opportunities as requested by the Executive Director.
  • The Educational Programs Assistant will assist with other programs as directed by the Executive Director.
  • Maintain staff training requirements as determined by the Executive Director.
  • Comply with State/Federal Health regulations and safety standards for COVID-19
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

Required:

  • Valid GA Driver’s License, and Current GA Clearances
  • 3 years classroom or other student instruction experience
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to an ever-changing workload.
  • Must be self-motivated with initiative and ability to make decisions and accept responsibility; be flexible to respond to unexpected situations that require immediate attention and be adaptable to diverse personality types.
  • Must possess good people skills with the ability to portray and communicate company information to multiple employees and volunteers.
  • Excellent telephone, public relations, and oral/written communication skills are required.
  • Must possess basic skills with computers including experience with Microsoft Office and familiar with typical company web-based system applications.
  • Extensive overnight travel

Preferred:

  • Current or past GA Teacher’s Certificate
  • BS in Education or qualifications in Ag-related field (preferred)
  • Agricultural Background

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

NONE

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to stand for long period of time
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds

Ability to handle a fast-paced environment
