Summary of Role: GlobalFoundries Fab9, Essex Junction, VT is seeking an individual to join their site Emergency Response Team (ERT) as a Sr. Section Manager of Safety & Emergency Response. Within this role, the manager oversees emergency response and safety programs, overall strategy, and day-to-day operations of the ERT including direct reports (fulltime ERT members) and “call staff” (volunteer ERT members). Essential Responsibilities: As part of the site Environmental, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) team, this individual will lead respond to medical emergencies, hazmat incidents, fires and all other emergency incidents to protect life, environment, property, and support continuous manufacturing operations Designs, develops, implements, and oversees the organization's safety/emergency response programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and to ensure that all facilities are in compliance with applicable regulations Directly manages fulltime members of the GF ERT, providing day-to-day guidance Actively responds to emergency situations including but not limited to medical, fire, chemical/hazmat, unknown spills, etc. Conducts safety audits of facilities, equipment, and work in progress to ensure compliance with safety/fire safety standards and specifications and safety/fire safety equipment are in working condition Work with teams on hazard identification, evaluation, control and provide appropriate risk mitigation strategies Actively participates on and supports LEPC/SERC teams and fosters a collaborative relationship with local emergency response organizations/entities Investigates incidents to determine root causes, contributing factors, and actions/controls to prevent recurrence Supports the training and development of ERT members, employees, and contractors Maintains comprehensive knowledge of applicable safety, fire, medical, and hazmat standards and regulations Other Responsibilities: Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs Development of strong partnerships with partner organizations including Facilities, AME, HR, etc. Functions as a member of the Crisis Management Team (CMT) including coordination of drills and exercises Engagement with insurance carriers for site visits, design reviews, and recommended follow-up actions. Required Qualifications: Communication – Strong verbal, written, and digital communication skills are essential to success in this position Education – Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Engineering, Occupational Safety or Health, or closely related degree Emergency Medical Service licensure/experience and ability to obtain licensure in Vermont within 1-year Firefighter I certification or equivalent experience leading industrial/private fire brigades or emergency response teams Hazmat Technician training or ability to complete training within 6 months of employment Experience – Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience within EHS, emergency management, etc. Skills – Capable of performing multiple tasks at various levels of complexity, demonstrated leadership skills/experience, including ability to function as Incident Commander Travel - Up to 10% Physical Capacity Demands – Ability to work in an Emergency Response capacity including use of an SCBA and level A/B hazmat equipment, and the ability to enter confined spaces. Preferred Qualifications: Prior Semiconductor experience preferred Expected Salary Range $82,300.00 - $146,300.00 The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
