Job Title: Automotive Site Service Manager

Pay: $80,000-$90,000

Job Location: Kent, WA

Job Summary:

The Automotive Site Service Manager will oversee all aspects of truck maintenance and repair operations in the field, actively managing a team of technicians and mechanics on-site. This role entails hands-on leadership, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to customer service in a dynamic, field-based environment. The Automotive Site Service Manager will be responsible for ensuring exceptional service delivery, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment on the ground, and fostering a customer-focused approach in all field operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all truck maintenance and repair activities, including diagnostics, inspections, scheduled maintenance, and major repairs
  • Develop and implement service strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and effective service delivery
  • Coordinate with parts suppliers, vendors, and service providers to procure necessary parts, tools, and equipment for repairs and maintenance
  • Manage service schedules, work orders, and job assignments to optimize workflow and minimize downtime
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies during all repair and maintenance activities
  • Handle employee inquiries, complaints, and service requests, providing exceptional customer service and resolving issues promptly
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, parts usage, and service history for documentation and reporting purposes
  • Monitor service metrics, budgets, and profitability targets, analyzing performance data and implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as sales and operations, to meet employee needs, achieve business objectives, and promote growth opportunities
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in maintenance and repair

Requirements:

  • 7 years of hands-on experience working as a Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic in a workshop or field environment
  • 3 years of leadership/management
  • Strong communication skills, teamwork abilities, and a customer-focused approach to service
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees, vendors, and management, conveying information clearly and professionally.
  • Comprehensive understanding of heavy equipment/diesel mechanic systems, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, regulations, and best practices in a workshop environment to ensure a safe working environment for employees.
  • Understanding of customer service principles, strategies, and techniques to deliver exceptional service and address service needs effectively.
  • Familiarity with parts management, inventory control, procurement processes, and supplier relationships to ensure availability of necessary parts and supplies.
  • Strong leadership qualities to inspire, motivate, and guide team members, set goals, and achieve performance targets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose complex issues, develop effective solutions, and make informed decisions.
  • Skill in resolving conflicts, addressing concerns, and managing difficult situations with diplomacy, tact, and professionalism.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing priorities, evolving technologies, and dynamic business environments.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with employees, earning their trust and loyalty through exceptional service and communication.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This job will involve occasional exposure to some disagreeable elements such as hot and cold temperatures, loud noises, dust/dirt and exhaust fumes. Must be able to work in extreme conditions such as hot and cold weather.

  • Must be able to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods;

  • Must be able to push, pull, bend at the knees and waist, lift, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, climb steps, grasp and hold tools and other items with hands, all of this for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the day.
