Get Fresh Sales is Hiring a Technical Writer Funding Specialist Near Las Vegas, NV

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Technical Writer/Funding Specialist will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for internal and external audiences, as well as identifying funding opportunities and preparing grant proposals. This role requires a strong blend of technical writing skills and an understanding of funding processes, including grant writing and reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Technical Writing:

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, manuals, procedures, and reports to support product development, project management, and technical processes.
  • Work closely with technical teams to gather and translate complex technical information into clear, readable documents for non-technical and technical audiences.
  • Ensure all documentation is kept up-to-date and meets company standards for accuracy and clarity.

Funding and Grant Writing:

  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities relevant to our projects and initiatives.
  • Write compelling grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documents, in accordance with funder requirements.
  • Manage the grant submission process, ensuring all deadlines are met and proposals are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and report on the status of grant applications and manage post-award reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Follow to completion.

DAILY ROUTINE:

  • Run reports.
  • Compile and reporting managing contracts.
  • Compliance.
  • Responsible for daily business flow of B&I/Wholesale.
  • Internal communication/ "Go to" person for the Sales Manager.
  • Stay current on all upcoming B&I opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in grant writing, fundraising, or a related field, with a track record of securing funding.
  • Excellent research, writing, and editing skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience working in the agricultural, food distribution, or produce industry, with a strong understanding of supply chain dynamics, particularly in sourcing, distributing, and marketing fresh produce to a variety of sectors including government institutions, educational establishments, and non-profit organizations.
  • Familiarity with farm-to-table initiatives, sustainable agriculture practices, and the local food movement would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, or compliance requirements related to the agricultural and food distribution industry, including USDA guidelines, food safety standards (such as FSMA - Food Safety Modernization Act), and procurement processes for government and educational institutions.
  • Understanding of grant application processes and requirements for agriculture-focused funding, such as those provided by the USDA, as well as familiarity with the operational and reporting requirements of charity food banks and similar entities.
  • Highly motivated to conduct thorough research into government, USDA, educational, and charitable funding opportunities, with a proactive approach to identifying and developing comprehensive solutions that align with our company's mission to supply fresh produce.
  • To include the ability to anticipate and navigate the unique requirements and timelines of each funding source, ensuring our proposals stand out and meet the specific criteria set by these organizations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing, with a proven ability to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Google Suite, and familiar with technical writing tools and software.
  • Experience with graphic design or multimedia tools to enhance document presentation.
