Long Description
The Assistant Quality Manager is responsible for the support of the Quality Manager in evaluation, benchmarking, improvement, design, development and standardization of the plant quality systems by possessing strong leadership, communication and teamwork skills; demonstrating an acute attention to detail, and showing strength in researching and analyzing data in the Quality Department directing the Quality team.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for Interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Support plans and coordinates PPAP documentation and submissions;
  • Maintain quality control sampling system, procedures, APQP, PPAP and IMDS activities
  • Manage, audit and continuously improve IATF16949 systems as well as Customer Specific Requirements;
  • Will participate in or conduct internal audits (Quality Systems, Layered Process Audits);
  • Direct Customer liaisons for plant quality activities and concerns including scheduled visits;
  • Enforce process adherence to all quality documents (APQP), samples, customer contact, production start - up, product launch, and correction of production variances / warrant analysis Validate containment effectiveness (Once per shift)
  • Join operations meetings and report out Strategic Plan Status and align appropriate reactions as required
  • Schedule weekly meeting to present Leading and Legacy KPIs to Peers and Quality Manager, proposed actions must be reviewed / up to date
  • Evaluate and develop Quality Personnel, provide feedback sessions and prepare the team’s succession plan
  • Review, validate actions and approve 8Ds
  • Establish with team an effective communication (rules / format)
  • Report out to the customer the Plant Initiatives / 8Ds / Any Customer Specific Demand
  • Escalate concerns to the Quality Manager and Assistant Plant Director
  • Verify Product & Process sign offs are done as required.
  • Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized, Lockout/Tagout procedures are adhered to, PPE is worn correctly at all times, and reporting of any near-misses, injuries, or accidents occurs immediately.
  • Assure adherence to quality policies and procedures including acceptable work standards, customer specifications and IPI requirements, to also include participation in the creation and support of systems, documentation and actions to ensure continued conformance to Quality (IATF) and Environmental (ISO) management systems.
Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering recommended; Work experience equivalent is accepted.
  • Five years’ experience in Automotive/Mfg. environment required (A Class experience and metal stamping preferred);
  • Three years’ experience in a Management or Supervision position of Quality required;
  • IATF-16949 (formerly TS16949) experience required; VDA experience a plus;
  • Electrical or Mechanical product experience required. Electro-mechanical experience is a big plus;
  • Support in development and implementation of quality systems and standards (FMEA’s, PPAP,
  • control Plans, DVP&R’s, APQP) required;
  • World class Lean Manufacturing implementation experience is a plus.
