What You’ll Do:

Your days are spent leading the commercial credit team, including team leads and credit analysts, in performing the commercial credit underwriting process, providing timely analytical and on-going credit administration support to commercial lenders. As manager your duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervisory responsibility, including direct leadership of team leads and indirect leadership of analysts, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and career development.
  • Evaluating the performance of the credit analysts and team leads based on performance objectives, and developing and initiating performance plans.
  • Accurately assessing the complexity of credit requests and assigning credits to analysts appropriately based on each analyst’s relevant experience.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of German American’s policies and procedures, acting as a resource for the Credit Department and Commercial Lenders.
  • Maintaining compliance, regulatory knowledge and risk management practices with application to commercial credit analysis.
  • Attending and providing administrative management of Credit Committees to facilitate the on-going development of the Credit Department.
  • Partnering with key internal stakeholders, such as Region and Market Executives, Regional Credit Officers, and Commercial Lenders. Together, you allocate resources to best serve German American’s commercial clients and share feedback performance among your teams.

What it takes:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in finance, accounting, economics or related area.
  • Work Experience: 10 years of relevant commercial banking experience, with 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Skills must include: Strategic thinking including the ability to analyze situations, make timely decisions, align with corporate initiatives, and plan for the future capitalizing on opportunities for improvement, advancement, and innovation, business acumen including economic insights and trend interpretation and the ability to align operations to those insights, ethical practice and working with confidentiality.
  • Leadership Skills: Acting as a coach, constructive evaluation, creating a culture of recognition, fostering teamwork
  • Communication Skills: Communicating effectively (both written and verbally across a diverse spectrum), collaboration, working effectively with others, building a positive rapport.
