Pay: $20.87 per hours plus bonus

Shift: 12 hour rotating shift

Job Summary

Performs setup and operations of all rolling equipment to run product per specifications. Receives production schedule and rolling orders to plan set up of rolls, tables and beds required for processing of product.

Position Responsibilities:

Ste-up Operator:

• Reads rolling orders to plan set up of rolls and guides.
• Assembles and greases new guides and rolls using hand tools, impact tools, cutting torches, grinders and greasing guns.
• Measures assembled rolls and guides using calipers or pie tapes to assure conformance to specifications.
• Install bearing on new rolls.
• Rebuilds old guides and rolls first removing slag with scrapers, pry bars, cutting torches or hammers.
• Inspect assembled rolls/guides for conformation to specifications and makes adjustments as needed.
• Sets and adjusts bolts to position rolls on milling machine using wrenches and bars.
• Adjust rolls on mills to obtain product of specified dimensions using hand tools.
• Disassembles previously installed miss stands and install and aligns new rolls.
• Observes guides during rolling to assure they are functioning according to specifications.
• Sorts and stores rolls and guides from disassembled stands.
• Assist Lathe Operator in raking chips off and around lathe and in hooking scrap bucket to crane for removal of chips collected in the scrap bucket.
• Communicates and directs coworkers verbally and with hand singles.
• Operate mobile equipment and handheld remote controlled overhead crane as needed.

Lathe Operator:

• Operates computer controlled lathe that spins and cuts rolls to meet specified diameter.
• Replaces parts on lathe as needed.
• Assist Maintenance with repairs as needed

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing or walking, balance, bend, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, and push and pull objects.
• Ability to reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged sitting.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Ability to operate hand controls with both hands and foot pedals with both feet.
• Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching.
• Ability to work in extreme ambient temperatures up to 160°F.
• Ability to work in cramped quarters and at heights.
• Ability to work a rotating shift schedule, including days, nights and weekends.
• Ability to tolerate working in areas where noise levels can reach 120 decibels.
