GeoTech Foundation Company - West is Hiring a Field Quality Control/Safety Officer for Design/Build Engineering Firm Near Hillsboro, OR

Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented field Quality Control/Safety Officer (QC/SO) to join our team. We are a Design/Build Ground Improvement and Foundation Support Subcontractor who works in any State West of the Mississippi. You would be required to live within commuting distance from our Hillsboro, OR office and you would need to travel occasionally to the projects that are out of state. We pay for air fare, hotels, and per-diem when you are on out-of-town projects.

We have licensed Professional Engineers who perform the design of our systems. The QC/SO will be onsite during all field installations to verify that the field crew is installing per the Professional Engineer's design (depths, locations, testing, etc.) while also ensuring our crew is installing safely and there are no worksite hazards. If you are an Engineer in Training (EIT), this position would count towards obtaining your Professional Engineering (PE) license as the PE of record on these projects would be overseeing your work and signing off on your experience.

Below is the detailed job description for our QC/SO officer:

Continual observations of field installations:

  • To correctly and consistently classify drill spoils and soil conditions.
  • Of soil types, groundwater during pier drilling, conditions in each pier hole during construction relative to constructability, anticipated subsurface conditions vs actual, and observation standards necessary for successful, safe pier element installation.

Assure each pier element is constructed:

  • As designed.
  • Meets established quality requirements.
  • All monitoring and testing are completed and successful.

Direct coordination with the project's 3rd party Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector, our office team, and any applicable project personnel.

  • Daily review and comparison of installation records.
  • Pier progress status, staking, and next day preparation readiness.

Record keeping:

  • All records, forms, project documents and files that are the responsibility of the QC/SO are accurate, complete, submitted to all necessary parties and finished within the required time frames.

Change of Field Conditions:

  • First line of defense to immediately and properly identify when a CHANGE OF CONDITIONS reporting is necessary and communicate effectively to the required parties.
  • Working together with the FOREMAN and/or the Operations Manager to perform an accurate, professional, step by step execution of the CHANGE OF CONDITIONS process.
