Function:

Operates a CNC mill to create prototype 1 off components for Geospace Technologies. R&D- Tooling

Duties/Responsibilities:

Job consists of using machines with turning parts and metal blades to cut metal. Instruction will be given in lock out-tag out, machine shop safety rules, etc. Steel toed shoes, nitrile gloves and safety glasses will be provided and must be used as intended to create a safe accident-free workplace.

Accuracy of machines components with /- .001 tol is required.

Candidate will be directly responsible for machining quality components to specifications.

Demonstrate effective problem-solving/decision-making to positively impact “On Time Delivery.”

Perform Autonomous Maintenance and Routine Preventative maintenance to ensure machine tool performance is maintained.

Perform in-process and first piece inspection.

Performs daily housekeep duties within personal work area and dept area.

Skills/Experience:

Experience with Fadal Machining center

Proper knowledge and use of all measuring instruments; including, but not limited to: ID mics, OD mics, Caliper, Blade mics, Tri mics, etc.

Experience making tools and fixturing

Must be able to create machining strategies to perform activities efficiently

Thorough understanding of G & M codes, canned cycles & circular interpolation. Able to calculate dimensions,program, set-up jobs on the machine, create G-Code programs (or modify G-Codes).

Applicants will be required to demonstrate proficiency in calculating dimensions from sketches (perspective drawings), and to run a small job on the machine that may require a modification to the G-codes. 

(5 years of experience MINIMUM)

Mold machining a plus

Experience with CAM (Delcam Feature CAM) software a plus

Education:

Ideal candidate will have studied machining and have completed a 2 year program in the subject. Alternate education can be through an apprentice program.
