Description

Responsible for collecting, posting and managing account payments, precerting surgeries if necessary. Responsible for submitting claims and following up with insurance companies. This is a flexible Work From Home position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
• Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
• Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.
• Prepares, reviews and sends patient statements.
• Evaluates patient’s financial status and established budget payment plans.
• Follows and reports status of delinquent accounts.
• Reviews accounts for possible assignment and makes recommendations to the Team Lead, also prepares information for the collection agency.
• Performs daily backups on office computer system.
• Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting, resubmitting claims to third party payers, verifying insurance, charge, payment and refund posting as well as coding reviews and audits.
• Processes payments from insurance companies and prepares a daily deposit.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.

Requirements

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• One-year experience with medical claims/billing

Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of medical billing and collection practices.
• Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office.
• Adaptable, flexible and a fast learner.
• Ability to multitask, to manage time and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
• Must be well organized and detail oriented.
• Must have a strong customer service focus.
