About the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The College of Computing has been a leader in defining modern computing as a paradigm that combines the foundations of theoretical mathematics and information science, the force of invention in computational systems and processes, and interdisciplinary practice that integrates innovation in computing with all facets of life. Today, the college comprises five schools that offer unique academic programs and conduct research specifically related to their concentration areas: Computer Science, Computing Instruction, Cybersecurity and Privacy, Interactive Computing, and Computational Science and Engineering.

Job Summary

Reporting to the School Chair, the Senior Research Associate for the College of Computing (CoC) will play a pivotal role in shaping the career trajectories of our students, this role will ensure that undergraduate CoC students receive high quality career guidance and access to professional opportunities by providing strategic leadership and guidance in the development and implementation of comprehensive career services programs. This position will collaborate with other campus departments, staff, and faculty on programs and ideas on how to best support our students while developing strategies to connect with community partners and employers.

Responsibilities

* Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the career trajectory of our students at all levels based on industry trends and demand in the CS field.

* Develop a career programming guide to aid our students in professional growth.

* Leverage current tools in the field to incorporate a strategy to successfully develop our students.

* Ensure the care and counseling provided to the students will prepare them for life after graduation and that will help them accomplish a tailored career plan based on the degree.

* This person will be asked to give guest lectures from time to time in CS1100.

* Foster networking and maintain relationships with local, national, and international constituents to help provide better opportunities for our students including internships.

* Create the appropriate platforms and resources to provide information about opportunities and giving back to GT.

* Collect and analyze data to enhance employer relationships with our graduates and current students.

* Assist with academic instruction and perform an academic assessment to ensure appropriate alignment with industry and academic needs.

* Collaborate with the College of Computing Development team on Corporate Affiliate Partners programming and relationships as needed.

* Performing quantitative and/or qualitative analysis of assessment and institutional related data.

* May be asked to pair students/researchers with the appropriate faculty based on advanced knowledge of the CS field.

* Writing and assisting on grants and government funding for our student programs

* Collaborate with central career services graduate team on programming and career development needs for the CoC graduate student population.

* Assist the Dean and School Chair as needed in these areas.

Required Qualifications

This position vacancy is an open rank announcement. Senior Research Associate

* A Master's degree in higher education administration, career counseling, business or computer science, or related area, and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or

* A Master's degree in higher education administration, career counseling, business or computer science, or related area, and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or

* A Doctoral degree in higher education administration, career counseling, business or computer science, or related area, and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Principal Research Associate

* A Master's degree in higher education administration, career counseling, business or computer science, or related area, and eleven (11) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or

* A Doctoral degree in higher education administration, career counseling, business or computer science, or related area, and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

* A minimum of five years of experience in career development initiatives, including advising/leading students in internships and other workplace experiences, developing community partnerships, and/or associated work in student services or talent management/acquisition.

* A minimum of two years of supervisory or management experience.

* Strong interpersonal, communication, and networking skills.

* Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders including students, faculty, employers, and alumni.

* Experience in post-secondary career development specifically within STEM fields.

* Experience with budget development and management.

* Knowledge of career development and learning theories.

* The ability to mentor a diverse student body.

* The ability to promote an inclusive and welcoming educational/work environment.

* The ability to mentor and assist students interested in pursuing graduate education.

* The ability to design and teach curricula that are responsive to a diverse student body.

* The ability to adopt teaching strategies that support the learning and success of all students.

* The ability to engage students in experiential learning activities and pedagogy that support student success.

* The ability to engage in high-impact practices that support deep learning for student success.

* Has expertise in teaching, scholarship, and/or service that contributes to access, diversity, and equal opportunity in higher education.
