Georgia state government is Hiring a Criminal Investigator 1/Field Agent/Evidence Custodian - 00120158 Near Georgia, GA

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Sworn police officer/deputy sheriff/retired (PBLE) with ability to be armed in accordance with OCGA. Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, computer software and equipment. Ability to maintain and control records in a large storage area. Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to apply laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to evidence/property control and disposal. Ability to correspond verbally/writing in a professional manner. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, the public and representatives of other public agencies using courtesy, tact, and good judgement. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the position. Skill in using judgement in interpreting and applying procedures and directions to specific cases. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Entry pay with PBLE (Basic Law Enforcement Certification): $59,520.14.

NOTE: This position is in the Southwest Region and will be a Field Agent/Evidence Custodian. The selected applicant must either reside within the region or be within 25 miles of the region. This position will maintain the evidence room and supplies. Maintain evidence in ACISS. Assist as needed in evidence collection. This position will receive, review, catalog, label and tag packages, documents and store submitted property and evidence; safeguards integrity of chain-of-custody; Ensures hazardous materials evidence is appropriately handled, identified, contained, stored, transported, tested, and disposed legally. Evaluates the worth of adjudicated evidence and unclaimed property in preparation for legal disposal and disbursement. Audits items against information available in multi-agency computer information system for stolen, wanted or owner information. Testifies in court as required by subpoena or represents department at public hearings and meetings. Stay up to date on local, state, and federal laws involving property/evidence. Releases evidentiary items to authorized law enforcement personnel. Review's security controls at primary and alternative property and storage locations. Conducts an annual inventory/property evidence room. Organizes cases for the investigative division. Identifies, traces, and tracks stolen property. Examines and processes video and image evidence. Assists in the preparation and presentation of photographic exhibits for judicial proceedings.
