JOB INFORMATION:
Job Title: CES Operator

JOB OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Manager of CES Operations, physically handles cargo and operates various types of forklifts, jockey trucks and equipment as necessary in the handling of cargo.
Upholds the values of the GPA to promote Safety, Integrity, Respect, Community, Creativity and Opportunity. Promotes a safe work environment by participating in safety initiatives and reporting unsafe conditions and behaviors.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Performs all duties in an efficient and safe manner in accordance with the GPA Safety Rules.
  • Palletizes/wraps cargo in an orderly manner.
  • Process labels for inventory control.
  • Places dunnage to insure proper storage of cargo.
  • Bands, stows, unitizes, blocks, braces and rigs cargo when required.
  • Works safely and comfortably in confined spaces.
  • Assists in training other employees to properly handle cargo and equipment, abiding by safety rules.
  • Trains and becomes proficient in operating forklift equipment with various types of attachments including: • 5k – 15k small industrial trucks• Ram Pole - to handle carpet and burlap and other like cargo• Squeeze - to handle baled cargo/white goods• Drum Attachment - to handle drums• Supersack Attachment - to handle sacked cargo• Drive (rolling stock) equipment of all descriptions; wheeled and tracked vehicles
  • Trains and becomes proficient in operating jockey trucks.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to follow instructions and perform routine, repetitive tasks.Ability to be trained as new technology is introduced into the workplace.Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Must be able to perform physical movements which are essential work activities like bending, kneeling, climbing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and sitting.Must have good eye-hand-foot coordination.Vision requirements: Visual acuity of 20/40 with or without corrective lenses for each eye, minimum depth perception of 6/9, and minimum peripheral vision of 70 degrees for each eye.Must be able to work in various levels of noise, vibrations, and in a warehouse environment with various commodities.Must be able to work in varying climatic and atmospheric conditions from minor to extreme.Must be able to work shift work, holidays, and weekends if necessary.Knowledge of the capabilities and capacities of equipment is preferred.The ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with the GPA staff on all levels of administration including immediate supervisor, management and co-workers required.
Experience
  • Employee will learn through on-the-job training and in-house courses in handling cargo, operation of equipment and safety Required
  • Some clerical experience is Preferred
Education
  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent
Licenses & Certifications
  • TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential Required
  • Driver's License - Valid state driver's license Required
