Qualifications
Manufacturing process engineers are technical professionals who develop or improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and boost profits. They are responsible for providing the overall process design and suggest measures for improvement of manufacturing, thereby increasing productivity and reducing manufacturing costs. Work is project-orientated, and the Process Engineer will be working on a number of projects, all at various different stages, at one time. Process engineer's work on maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, and reducing costs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Meet or beat project KPI's project cost, project completion date and project ROI.
•Design, install, and commission new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processes.
•Evaluate existing processes and configure manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process.
•Manage the cost/budget and time constraints of projects to finish projects on time and within budget.
•Provide technical assistance to maintenance when needed to help maintenance complete maintenance work.
•Select, manage, and work with sub-contractors;
•Supervise equipment installation.
•Must be willing to work overtime if ever the need to do so arises.
•Must work on multiple different projects at one time.
•Prepare and maintain study data and documentation.
•Coordinate ideas and suggestions and present data on improvements to reduce costs.
•Perform "Return On Investment" analysis of proposed production improvements and implement or assist in the implementation of production improvements.
•Keep project before and after records of labor, material usage, and
production output to show actual ROI achieved.
•Develop machine and line manuals.
•Develop various training materials, train employees, and test employees to confirm learning.
•Keep track of hours worked on all projects and turn in project hours worked each week.
•Complete various miscellaneous engineering projects.
•Report food safety and quality problems to personnel with the authority to initiate action.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
  • 10 years engineering experience in the food industry.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas, concepts and procedures to all levels within the organization, from employees on the factory floor to peers on cross-functional teams to senior management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, on time, on budget with minimal guidance from manager.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to interact with all company functions including R&D, Marketing, Purchasing and Operations.
  • Excellent computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and AutoCAD.
  • Good working knowledge and experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Hands-on experience including troubleshooting of various problems of above systems is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of process controllers i.e. Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Yaskawa, processors and controllers. Troubleshooting potential problems and basic programming of above controllers is a plus.
  • Minimum 8 years experience.
  • Spanish speaking ability is a plus.
