Georgia Department of Public Health is Hiring an Outreach Specialist Near Augusta, GA

Description

The East Central Health District is the lead agency entrusted by the people of the state of Georgia with the ultimate responsibility for the health of communities and the entire population.
The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Outreach Specialist for our Project Impact Program.

Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner and leaders encourages all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. The use of wellness breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and assist employees in meeting their wellness goals. A maximum of 30-minutes in a given workday may be used to engage in wellness activities, generally in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision, provides a broad range of paraprofessional social services to patients/clients/consumers and their families.
Conducts patient/client/consumer intakes, participates in treatment team planning, and performs crisis intervention.
Assists in dealing with personal and social problems.
May provide supportive counseling to consumers and families and/or serve as a liaison for social services. May perform case management duties.
  • Participate in community outreach events to promote HIV prevention and education.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive HIV prevention programs.
  • Conduct educational workshops and presentations on HIV prevention methods.
  • Collaborate with community organizations to promote awareness and access to HIV testing and treatment.
  • Provide individual counseling and support to individuals at risk for HIV.
  • Stay up to date on current research and best practices in HIV prevention.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of prevention programs.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care for individuals living with HIV.
  • Advocate for policies and resources that support HIV prevention efforts.
  • Provide training and support to other healthcare professionals on HIV prevention strategies.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in social services related field from an accredited college or university OR
High school diploma or GED AND One years or more of experience in a social service-related position.

  • Canvas or similar, be able to create flyers
Additional Information

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.
