The Northeast Health District is seeking a Registered Nurse to support mobile outreach efforts, with an initial focus on mobile vaccination clinics. The position is based in Athens, GA and would be responsible for traveling to and providing patient care at mobile clinics across the Northeast Health District’s 10 counties (Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Oglethorpe, and Walton). Under general supervision, will provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols.
 
The Outreach Registered Nurse will be responsible for vaccine storage and handling, vaccine preparation, and vaccine administration and will provide patient education and excellent customer service. Must demonstrate a high level of integrity, work ethic, enthusiasm, and professionalism, as well as adhere to protocols set in place for vaccine administration including, but not limited to, appropriate patient identification, registration, labeling, preparation and administration of vaccine, and data entry. Will ensure compliance with all safety precautions and HIPAA requirements and ensure accurate data entry.
 
The Outreach Registered Nurse may assist with organizing events, set up and breakdown of sites, traffic control, and maintaining flow for each facility and/or event. Will assist the Outreach Coordinator with preparation of supplies for each clinic including, but not limited to, organizing, packing, and stocking supplies for each facility. 
 
The Outreach Registered Nursemust be legally able to administer vaccines, able to stand/walk for long periods of time, and able tolerate heat and/or cold while working outside wearing a face mask and other necessary personal protective equipment for the duration of the shift. 
Reliable transportation and schedule flexibility – including availability for some evening and weekend shifts - required. Mileage will be reimbursed for travel to and from outreach sites. (Fleet vehicle also available.)
 
When not serving in the outreach function, work may include providing assistance at a health department.
As an Outreach Registered Nurse within the Clarke County Departmentat the Georgia Department of Public Health,you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways. 
  • Provide comprehensive and holistic primary care, including physical exams, development of diagnosis, management of acute and chronic illnesses
  • Evaluate outcomes of care and make medical recommendations
  • Evaluate pharmacological treatment regime
  • Collaborates with other health care providers and makes appropriate referrals
  • Develop, maintain, and update plans of care and health care records and other documentation as required
  • Monthly medication/treatment review of team charts
  • Teach health promotion to consumers and staff 
  • Advocate for consumers in accessing and navigating the health care system 
  • Work closely with the Team and consumer in establishing and following the optimal treatment/service plan 
  • Participate in check-in meeting and case reviews, and consults with team members as needed 
  • Collaborate with staff to coordinate prescriptions and orders, and to oversee the overall health of consumer
  • Establish a work schedule, in collaboration with team leader, to ensure that consumers are seen in a timely manner
  • Engage qualified consumers in medical services, both on site and in the community
  • Educate/ assist agency staff to develop increased awareness of community health care agencies/ resources
  • Serve as health care resources to consumers and families/significant others 
  • Communicate with clinic staff to ensure optimal treatment and discharge planning 
Associate's degree/diploma in Nursing from an accredited college AND Completion of a PHN course within One year of hire AND Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification. Note: No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
 
Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND one year of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.

OR
 
Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification. Fluent in English and Spanish. Experience or comfort with providing services in community-based settings.
Annual salary of $60,000 plus a 10% supplement ($6,000 annually) for supporting mobile outreach, which requires schedule flexibility and the ability to work some evenings and weekendsGenerous benefits include 13 paid holidays, paid annual and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement plans that include a pension and employer contributions to a 401k.
