Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant will provide educationally beneficial assistance to the Department of English. Graduate assistants will serve the department by teaching lower-division courses and tutoring in the Writing Center. Duties will include mandatory training and regular meetings.

Responsibilities

Duties as Assigned - 100

The graduate assistant performs duties as assigned and participates in staff, committee, and other university meetings as appropriate and at the request of supervisor.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree

Accepted into the MA in Literature program at Georgia College & State University.

Other Required Qualifications

Approved for regular admission to MA in Literature program at Georgia College & State University. Upload Acceptance into "Other" attachment in application.

Maintain academic good standing. If a student's grade point average falls below a 3.00 (academic warning), the student will have next semester or summer term to improve and return to good standing before termination of the assistantship. Should a student fail to return to good standing after the next semester or summer term, or should a student receive academic exclusion and be dismissed from the degree program, the assistantship will be terminated at once.

This position will work in-person 19 hours per week.

* Full assistantships (19 hours/week) cover all but $25 of tuition.

* Applicable student fees are not covered by the assistantship.

Course loads for graduate assistants must be at least 6 graduate semester hours.
