JOB SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Election Systems Special Projects Coordinator and the general supervision of the Election Information Systems and Database Manager, the Election Systems Special Projects Associate works as part of a team to deploy, inventory, prepare, support, and test various voting equipment and systems and supports short-term projects within the Elections Division. This position supports the mission of the Office of the Secretary of State to ensure and promote secure, accurate, and fair elections that Georgia voters can have confidence in. This position will be based at both the Secretary of State Elections Division offices in Atlanta and the Elections Systems center in the Metro Atlanta area. Both facilities will be considered primary workplaces for travel and expense purposes. This position will require regular in-state non-overnight travel and occasional in-state overnight travel. The expected regular work schedule of this position is Monday through Friday from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. but is subject to change depending on operational need including reduced hours during periods of reduced workload.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: •Conducts equipment inventory and acceptance testing of new equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures. •Performs quality assurance tests on various components of the voting system. •Collaborates with fellow team members and supervisors regarding inventory and testing results, delays, and any other issues that may impact the project. •Actively tests equipment to identify errors or defects and to ensure that all units meet specifications set forth in testing criteria. •Complete written and/or electronic documentation of equipment test results and inventory results in accordance with standard procedures. •Ensures the security of all elections equipment during testing / inventory activities by following established processes and chain of custody procedures in accordance with legal requirements and any additional Elections Division policies. •Loading and unloading of vehicles and transportation of equipment between state and county facilities. •Drives state and privately owned vehicles in support of the project. •Routine lifting of equipment, & supplies up to 20 lbs; occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs •Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: •High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in an elections, inventory management, or quality assurance environment or other relevant workforce experience. Candidates who have practical working experience in a program or setting regulated by ordinance or public sector policies are preferred. •An associate or bachelor's degree from a nationally accredited college or university in a related field is highly desirable. •Experience working in elections is highly desirable. •Possession of a valid state driver's license. •Access to a vehicle to drive between state and county facilities in the furtherance of essential duties (with mileage reimbursed in accordance with the Statewide Travel Policy) is highly desirable.
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience OR Associate's/Vocational/Technical degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years of related experience OR One year of experience at the lower level Systems Analyst 1 (ITP020) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.
