Georgia Aquarium, Inc. is Hiring a Production Technician (Level I) Near Atlanta, GA

Position Title: Production Technician (Level I) Temporary

Department: Production / 3410

Classification: Non-Exempt

Direct Report: Assistant Manager of Production

Position Summary

The Production Technician (Level I) is an entry-level position within the Production Department which assists in the daily operation and maintenance of all aspects of technical production for the Production / Entertainment Departments, Special Events, and other Guest programming. They will operate a follow spot for presentations, as well as for rehearsals and special events, and support all other production departments as required. They will also participate in work calls / routine maintenance assignments, and function as a Stagehand / Production Assistant for presentations, Special Events or other production/guest programming projects as assigned. They will be exposed to, receive training in, and have the opportunity to assist with, operations related to lighting, special effects, audio-visual, live camera operation and video manipulation systems.

Responsibilities:

Production & Operations:

  1. Assist in daily operation and maintenance of all aspects of lighting/electrics production for the theatre, production, and special events.
  2. Operate a follow spot for presentations, rehearsals and special events as required.
  3. Support all other production departments as needed, to include, but not be limited to, wardrobe props, scenery and audio/visual.
  4. Operate as a Stagehand/Production Assistant as needed.
  5. Participate in and support load-ins, turn-a-rounds and strikes as needed/required.
  6. Assist with the training of new personnel on follow spot and basic show operations.
  7. Perform other functions incidental to operations as necessary/required, including but not limited to cleaning and inspection of scenery, catwalk/lighting position areas, and other production spaces.
  8. Cross-train into/ perform other daily operational roles as time/ skill set allows.
  9. Perform other tasks as workload necessitates, which may include administrative or other technical support tasks as assigned by Production Management.
  10. Assist with the Venue / House Management as needed which may include opening/closing the house and making calls prior to performances.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Enforce and adhere to all rules and regulations of the company including but not limited to those outlined in the employee handbook or other documentation.
  2. Enforce and adhere to all health and safety standards and regulations.
  3. Enforce and adhere to all facility/building codes.
  4. Enforce and adhere to OSHA regulations and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum (2) years’ experience in live entertainment and theatrical/special event production
  2. Possess basic knowledge of all live entertainment, theatrical and special event production, and operations.
  3. Possess basic knowledge of the operation and maintenance of theatrical lighting systems, conventional and automated/intelligent lights, follow spots, lighting computers and lighting systems and basic programming and training of such.
  4. Experience and knowledge of electricity and low voltage systems
  5. Experience with audio, special effects, and camera/video systems a plus.
  6. Possess strong office computer skills. Specifically: MS Word, and MS Excel
  7. Ability to kneel, lift, and carry heavy equipment, work in confined spaces and at heights above 25’ and/or on various lifts, booms, and ladders.
  8. Ability to swim.
  9. Creative thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  10. Professional Appearance & Demeanor
  11. Possess the highest level of motivation, pride in work and leadership.
  12. Remain flexible and available to work long hours, as needed, on a potentially fluctuating schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  13. College degree or equivalent professional work experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
