Job Overview
The Manager for Professional Development and Partnerships for the Capitol Applied Learning Lab (CALL) is partially funded through one gift: a $5M gift by the Idol Family to coordinate and manage the Idol Family Summer Fellowship program.
The Manager for Professional Development and Partnerships will play a leading role in the co-curricular needs of the CALL, centering this work within diversity and inclusion-focused principles. S/he connects students with employers and alumni to provide educational programs and promote job and internship opportunities for students. Engages in efforts to increase employer awareness and involvement of CALL program, including internship opportunities, mentoring, guest speakers, etc. The position will oversee the Idol Family Summer Fellowship Program, including cohort recruitment and selection, marketing, career mentoring, and workshop design.
Work Interactions
The Manager for Professional Development and Partnerships reports to the Director of the CALL. Interacts closely with students, alumni, employers, and university professionals to promote educational programs and internship/job opportunities to constituents. Supports the mission of the university by strengthening relationships with employers and alumni interested in the CALL program.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree - preference for Master's degree (conferred or in progress)
2-4 years of experience in a position that includes advising, employer development, career counseling, program development, higher education, or related fields
Shows appreciation and openness to make students feel welcome from all backgrounds and demonstrate multicultural sensitivities in working with a diverse student body, such as diversity in race, ethnicity, gender, sex, religion, sexual orientation, ability, age, etc.
Experience working in rapidly changing, start-up-like environment: ability to take initiative and work under minimal supervision; proven organizational and time management skills; and high attention to detail
Experience with diversity and inclusion-focused programming
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with university students, staff, faculty, leadership and external partners
Literacy with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, and Google Suite applications, like Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Sheets
Ability to provide leadership for a small-sized organization
Interest in innovation in higher education landscape
Experience with Handshake preferred
Work Mode: Hybrid (1 day on campus, 4 days telework). Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.
