George Industries LLC is Hiring a Quality Inspector Lead/Document Control Near Endicott, NY

POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Inspector Lead will perform product inspections, record inspection results, and recommend improvements to the production process. The inspector will ensure in-process production and finished products meet all pertinent specifications to meet product and customer requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership: Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure consistent and effective execution of inspection activities.
  • Quality Inspection: Perform and oversee inspections of products, materials, and processes to verify conformance to specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements, utilizing inspection tools, equipment, and techniques.
  • Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control measures, including sampling plans, inspection procedures, and documentation requirements, to maintain product quality and consistency.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and analyze root causes of quality issues, non-conformities, or deviations from standards, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify corrective and preventive actions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of inspection results, non-conformities, corrective actions, and quality records, maintaining traceability and compliance with documentation requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inspection processes, reduce defects, and improve overall quality performance, leveraging data analysis, process optimization, and quality improvement tools.
  • Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with purchasing and supplier management teams to evaluate supplier quality performance, conduct supplier audits, and address supplier quality issues to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.
  • Document Control: Maintain and update master copies of process documentation, objective evidence of approvals related to new or changed documentation, and external documentation such as standards as directed by the Quality Manager
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant quality management standards, regulations, and customer-specific requirements, such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and customer quality assurance agreements.
  • Provide value to our customers by using Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste in all forms (scrap/rework, transportation, motion, waiting, inventory, over production, over processing, and under-utilization of people). Uses systemic thinking by seeing processes from end to end and works to challenge the status quo to eliminate the root cause of problems. Is involved in individual and/or team activities that involve using Lean tools and concepts to improve the flow of information and material.
  • Other duties as assigned

KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS

  • Internal final inspection and in-process inspection results
  • External escapes
  • Number of improvements to prevent internal findings or external escapes

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift 10-20 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds periodically.
  • Must be able to stand/walk/sit for up to 8 hours per day

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates degree or equivalent technical education in engineering, quality assurance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in quality inspection and quality assurance roles, with demonstrated proficiency in inspection techniques, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a team of quality inspectors.
  • Thorough understanding of quality management principles, methodologies, and tools, such as, Lean, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex quality issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate technical information, inspection results, and quality issues clearly and concisely.
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing quality-related challenges.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS), quality auditing principles, and quality assurance best practices applicable to manufacturing or service industries.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
