George Fox University's K-12 Initiative team is seeking a multi-tasker who has sharp organizational skills, enthusiastic passion for innovative learning experiences and thrives in an event planning environment.


About the Job:

The Conference and Pre-College Experiences Manager takes a primary role as an operations manager for the summer Middle School Experience (MSE) and Pre-College Institute (PCI) as well as other events throughout the school year specifically designed for K-12 students. This role involves orchestrating various activities, overseeing logistics, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring a positive and engaging experience for event participants.


Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing and participating in logistics for assigned conferences, summer camps and events.
  • Hiring, scheduling and supervising student employees for MSE and PCI, coaching them in developing and demonstrating professional behavior including positive morale.
  • Conducting training workshop, post-conference clean up and debrief for student employees.
  • Taking ACA Training Classes as advised by the Senior Director of Conference and Event Services.
  • Completing CPR Training and maintaining the certification.
  • Communicating campus procedures and policies in a clear and professional manner.
  • Supervising on-site conference operations, overseeing setup, execution, and teardown to ensure a welcoming and organized experience.
  • Acting as the housing Resident Coordinator during the Middle School Experience and Pre-College Institute including staying overnight in campus housing.
  • Planning, organizing and participating in indoor and outdoor activities for MSE and PCI students, ensure all activities are appropriate, fun, and adequately supervised.
  • Addressing any issues or concerns during conferences and events, providing effective solutions and ensuring a positive experience for all participants.
  • Collaborating with K12 Initiatives on various additional events and student experiences throughout the year.
  • Driving campus vehicles. A valid driver's license with an excellent driving record and ability to pass the University approved driver requirements.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.

A day in the life of this position:

The Conference and Pre-College Experiences Manager will actively collaborate with various departments throughout the university as well as work with external partners and stakeholders. Some days will be full of logistical planning, problem solving and creativity. Other days will be managing events and camps. This position will be full of innovation and creativity. No day will look the same!


We're looking for candidates who have:

  • Strong and clear communicator, consistent listener, and a contributor of new ideas
  • An outgoing personality that can build positive relationships with students and university employees.
  • Emotionally intelligent, not afraid to ask for directions and clarity. A self-starter and hard worker.
  • A team player who can easily pivot on short notice. Flexibility is a key factor
  • A proactive problem solver. This person will need to act quickly on their feet to ensure events run smoothly and collaboratively.
  • A valid driver's license with an excellent driving record and ability to pass the University approved driver requirements.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.


Preference will be given to those who have the following attributes:

  • Experience with summer camps or conferences.
  • Some college experience.


Job information:

  • Hours Per Week: 40 hours, 12 months of the year
  • Primary Work Location: Newberg Campus
  • Working Conditions: Physical requirements could include lifting more than 30 pounds, standing and/or stooping for extended periods of time, and traversing campus grounds in all types of weather. Exposure to various outside working and weather conditions, including inclement weather, on a regular basis.
    • About 70% of working hours will be moving and require the ability to lift more than 25 pounds and perform any activities such as balancing, bending/stooping, climbing stairs, crouching, etc.
    • About 30% of working hours will have the physical requirements of a normal office environment.
