Job Title: Survey CAD Technician

Summary/Objective:

GeoPoint Surveying, Inc. is a land surveying firm with multiple locations, specializing in land development, remote sensing, energy, geospatial mapping, commercial surveys, and subsurface utility engineering.

The Survey Cad Technician utilizes Plats, Construction Plans, Architectural Plans, Survey Data and Government Resource Websites (FEMA, Property Appraiser, SWFWMD, LABINS, etc.) and uses AutoCAD/Autodesk Civil 3D to prepare Technical Permit Drawings for Single Family and Multi-Family Lots.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Efficiently plan and prepare cad drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Maintain and organize digital and paper survey records
  • Interact daily with field crews, project managers and co-workers
  • Perform research and gather data through GeoPoint database and county websites
  • Ensure daily/weekly schedules and productivity objectives set by supervisor for surveys and drawings are achieved
  • Produce quality, above industry standard lot survey packages

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Great math skills required
  • Able to enter time in billing system daily
  • Use GeoPoint server file system to catalog all data
  • Utilize GeoPoint layering system
  • Utilize GeoPoint styles
  • Complete GeoPoint Beginner CAD courses
  • Properly identify boundary monumentation
  • Understand dimensioning and orientation, i.e., bearings and distances
  • Import survey data using GeoPoint standards
  • Understand labeling of improvements and occupation
  • Prepare a formboard tie-in/foundation survey
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Able to revise redlines and send to signing surveyor
  • Able to communicate to field crews if data is missing
  • Complete GeoPoint Intermediate CAD courses
  • Understand different municipalities’ requirements
  • Have or participate in field experience
  • Prepare a final survey
  • Able to peer review survey work
  • Understand how to read a plat
  • Understand how to read construction plans
  • Add final certifications to final survey
  • Understand how to read a JIO (Job Initiation Order)
  • Create plot plan, a boundary survey and topographic survey/lot drainage plan
  • Complete GeoPoint Advanced CAD courses
  • Calc missing boundary corner and send to field crews for completion

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently sit, stand, or walk
  • May lift, carry, push, or pull objects of various weights
  • May reach, kneel, crouch, bend, or twist
  • Focus completely on drawings
  • Some other physical demands may come up
  • Able to work overtime and some weekends
  • Able to work well in a team environment as well as being self-motivated and driven

Work Environment:

  • Desk/Workstation may be located in a confined area
  • Moderate noise indoors/outdoors (i.e., computers, phones, printers, and traffic)

Travel:

  • Some travel may be required
