Senior Project Manager

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY:

The Senior Global Project Manager leads cross-functionally, and with support of the regional and teams, development and industrialization of new technologies and automation initiatives, major cross-regional production or technology transfers and initial stages of footprint expansion and optimization projects prior to handing off to the regional teams. He/she will lead to the cross-functional and cross-regional implementation teams to ensure that the projects align with internal Gentherm processes and customers' business requirements and the KPIs are successfully achieved.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project management and implementation of various global projects including footprint optimization, transfers, new technology or new process/automation deployment.
  • Develop and coordinate transfer plans between manufacturing locations across regions, covering all aspects of the product, processes, equipment, facilities, and supply chain to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Creation and adaptations of implementation/project timelines.
  • Daily/weekly management of deadlines and issue/inhibitor resolution.
  • Facilitation of customer and team status meetings, maintenance and distribution of project tracking and status documentation.
  • Creation and implementation of change management plans
  • Write/edit/execute various communications, presentations, program guidelines, and training tools.
  • Formal and informal interaction with customer stakeholders, project leads, and executive-level and plant/site-level leadership to complete the implementation.
OTHER CORE FUNCTIONS
  • Coordination, scheduling, and facilitation of Organizational, Site and Functional Area assessment workshops.
  • Guide the Training & Communications team with coordination/scheduling of implementation training sessions.
  • Assists in the creation of Implementation processes, procedures and process maps reflecting industry best practices and lessons learned.
  • May assist with operational enhancements and other special projects.
  • Utilizes project management skills of resource and task management, organization, planning, communication, presentation, and time management to successfully implement projects.
  • Manages and influences project resources to perform tasks according to plan and budget, as required.
  • Estimates time frames, quality and quantity of resources required to successfully implement project.
  • Prepares or coordinates the preparation of Weekly Status Meeting documentation (e.g. agendas, action items and issues log, project timeline, critical path Visio, risk mitigation plan, communication plan, training delivery matrices, etc.).
  • Discusses project planning and leads problem resolution of issues with stakeholders and customer (as appropriate).
  • Conduct project close-out and lessons learned meetings internally and with the customer (as appropriate).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Professional expertise (minimally one of the two):

  • Experience managing global product transfers across plants and regions, greenfield or brownfield production launches or plant phase-outs
  • Experience with managing Industrial Engineering development of new technologies (automation projects, VAVE, Continuous Improvement) and deployment to manufacturing plants
  • Communication:

Excellent writing, editing, communications, presentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to perform problem resolution and present conceptual information to all levels of stakeholders.
  • The ability to negotiate and influence with Customers, Suppliers and Contractors.

Team Building:

  • Ability to build positive team spirit and work cross functionally.

Manufacturing:

  • Support Gentherm's Manufacturing organization initiatives.
  • Lead large scale interplant or multi-plant manufacturing projects
  • Initiate actions to prevent defects.
  • Identify and record any manufacturing problems related to product, process and quality.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.

Planning:

  • Perform internal and external data gathering.
  • Build and execute project plans.

Technology:

  • Knowledge of the following tools:Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office Automation Tools: Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows, Web Applications and client sharing platforms.

Supervisory / Leadership:

  • Ability to provide business/technical support and training.
  • Problem solving capability with local and regional team members.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering
PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MBA or Master's degree in engineering preferred
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Knowledge of production processes and applied technologies within embroidery, cutting, lamination of textiles, cable assembly and electronics assembly.
