Inviting applications for the role of Applied Ontologist!

As an Applied Ontologist, you will help to extend and refine our ontology and taxonomy to embrace new vocabulary, increase the accuracy of classifications to better guide semantic search, identify and evaluate new sources of reference data and help to wed them to the knowledge graph. You will help to employee machine-learning and large-language-model techniques for natural-language-processing (NLP), question answering, and search. To these ends, you will assist in analysing large quantities of both structured and unstructured data. You will be a bridge between subject-matter -experts who have the business knowledge we need to capture and technologist who must implement systems that use the ontology/ taxonomy. You will also be expected to work together with the annotators provide them with the ongoing system support - support them with training and knowledge sharing and occasionally participate in hands on annotation effort to enhance your understanding of the data and the real-life business use cases.

Responsibilities:

Participate in ontology creation, ontology management and semantic data enrichment efforts.

Help to develop processes and procedures to integrate taxonomies into the knowledge graph environment.

Work on strategies to leverage ontologies to facilitate natural language processing including fact extractions document classification and query processing.

Work with data analyst to design procedures to leverage knowledge graph data in a machine learning space.

Required skills:

• At least 3 years experience and expertise in W3C- compliant semantic model development and maintenance (RDF, OWL and SPARQL). Experience with relevant taxonomy and ontology development tools and knowledge graph database tooling
• Bachelor's degree in information science computer science library science computational linguistical, mathematics, or related discipline, or an additional 3 years experience in one of these disciplines.
• Familiarity with the basic vocabulary of financial services
• At least 3 years experience in large-scale enterprises
• Demonstrable experience in developing mapping and transformation processes to take data from a relational paradigm into a knowledge graph environment.

Helpful/ desirable skills:

• Experience in creating data validation processes using SHACL, SPARQL or other rules language.
• Experience in utilising ontologies in developing natural language processing solutions.
• Experience utilising graph data in a machine learning environment.
• Basic understanding of financial research some experience in the financial service industry is highly preferred, but not mandatory.

The approximate annual base compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package plus benefits, will be determined by a number of factors which include but are not limited to the applicant s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities; geographic location; and internal equity.
