Genezen is Hiring an Analytical Development Internship Near Indianapolis, IN

PURPOSE

This is a paid internship for students in their final semester before graduation to gain experience at a leading viral vector CDMO. Students interested in evaluating viral vectors made in process development labs will gain hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art analytical laboratory. They'll execute projects under trained scientists, gaining expertise in Quantitative PCR, ELISA, and Flow Cytometric methods. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform hands on laboratory procedures related to viral vector production and characterization, specifically cell culture maintenance activities such as cell culture initiation, sub-culturing, media prep, and cell counting
  • Sample management
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of processing activities, including quality control of written and electronic data
  • Handle and track inventory
  • Perform routine lab maintenance and maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Train new staff members and fellow hourly employees in designated processes
  • Comply with all established policies and SOPs
  • Participate actively in SOP revisions in coordination with supervisor and Quality Assurance

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must have 3.5 GPA or higher
  • Must be in final summer semester before graduation
  • 1 years of relevant industry experience in R&D, product development, or operations
  • Experience with aseptic technique, BSL 2/2.5 environment, cell culture, and molecular biology
  • Excellent computer, verbal, and written communication skills
  • High level of organization; detail oriented
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Precision pipetting

  • Ability to work in a BSL 2/3 environment with personal protective equipment.
  • Might require a flexible work schedule (willingness to work outside of regular, Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm business hours).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. 
  • In the performance of the duties of this job the employee is required to communicate using telephone and e-mail.
