Geneva Transport is Hiring a 2nd Shift Dispatcher Near Bolingbrook, IL

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for scheduling, dispatching, and resolving problems for our drivers so that they continue to meet the needs of our customers. This position requires you to have exceptional proactive communication skills, including but not limited to resolving issues regarding timely pick-ups and deliveries. Must be able to work any evening shift to satisfy the demand for flexibility of scheduling to ensure operational success. This also includes occasional overtime as needed. Shifts are 2PM to 10PM.

Job Description:

  • Ability to track and manage drivers using TMS Software and update notes as needed.
  • Responsible for driver load monitoring, including resolving any issues that may affect the scheduled times for pickup or delivery, while proactively communicating to the affected customer. These problems normally include truck mechanical problems, traffic or weather issues, or customer directed shipment changes.
  • Maintaining a positive attitude to strengthen driver engagement in order to improve driver satisfaction and productivity
  • Ability to efficiently assign loads to drivers in order to maximize efficiency, customer satisfaction, and driver retention for our dedicated customer accounts
  • Maintains the company safety culture to include nightly safety messages (Smart Drive), mandatory breaks, and help enforce company policies to ensure DOT compliance and company requirements are being met

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED with up to 2-3 years of Transportation or Dispatch or related field
  • Intermodal experience a plus

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Anticipate, recognize, and deal effectively with existing or potential conflicts
  • Basic knowledge of shipping and transportation operations
  • Must have 2-3 years of prior experience in dispatching and dealing with a variety of drivers at one time
  • Have great attendance and punctuality and demonstrate a high level of professionalism and a positive attitude
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to function in a fast paced, highly visible, and changing environment
  • Establish and maintain healthy working relationships with drivers, customers, and peers
  • Ability to meet or exceed team/driver needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct manner
  • Ability to monitor drivers' hours to ensure appropriate workload to prevent violations
  • Knowledge of Trucking software and a willingness to learn new Trucking software
  • Knowledge of ELD/Logbook compliance
  • General knowledge of FMCSA Hours of Service
  • Excel and Word experience preferred
  • Excellent phone etiquette and verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure with limited supervision
  • Prior Truck Driving experience a plus but not a requirement
